My family has used GH Herrmann...

My family has used GH Herrmann's in the past and never had any issues. However, we recently used them for my grandmother, and the issues we had are so big they are amazing.

The beginning problem started on the day of her funeral, when we went to see her before the visitation started, we found she had PINK hair. Now, she had gray hair that hadn't been dyed in some time, and the funeral director recommended they could do a rinse to add some color. They forgot to mention that color would apparently be pink. It was sad that the day she should have been given the last respects by her family, she was a joke at her own funeral. We received no apology until an email was sent after the fact, and then it's all being blamed on some mysterious chemical reaction. I'm sorry, but if the cosmetologist followed simple instructions that are found on every temporary, permanent dye or rince and used a test section first, then this never would have been an issue.

The next issue we had was the sound system. We had to pay the same price ($195) to have some cds played that we brought in, as we would have paid had we used their organist. Apparently, this was the cost of renting their sound system, which was terrible. Half of the time, the music was so quiet no one could hear it, the other half it was so loud, no one could visit over it. The cd was skipping for several minutes without repair before I had to go request it be fixed. They also didn't play the songs we requested before and after the service itself. If you decide to supply your own music, save yourself the money and bring in your own boom box.

Now, the most infuriating issue we are running into are obtaining the death certificates. The funeral director we initially worked with told us that we should have them within a few days. Since they were still not available when we had the funeral, they were going to mail them to us. Several days after the funeral, they call advising they are in...but they didn't mail them. So my mother requested they be mailed as originally discussed. It's been 5 days since they were supposed to mail them, and she calls to find out when they were mailed since we MUST have them tomorrow (over a week and a half since we were told we would initially have them) and finds out that instead of mailing them, they shipped them to their other office, and were going to send them out in the mail today. It was 2:30 in the afternoon when she spoke with them, so they probably wouldn't be sent out until tomorrow, if they were sent out at all. Hopefully they will actually be there when she makes a special trip to get them, and they haven't sent them somewhere else before then.

I would only recommend this funeral home if you are in dire need for frustration and embarrassment in your life instead of the assistance needed during this time.
