General Info

The Department of Parks and Recreation is governed by Los Angeles County in California. It specializes in meeting the recreational needs of residents and visitors. The department offers more than 63,000 acres of parks, gardens, lakes, trails and golf courses. It maintains over 20 golf courses and provides discount programs for senior citizens and students. The Department of Parks and Recreation is involved in the maintenance of natural areas and wildlife sanctuaries that offer hiking, horseback riding, bird watching and photographing activities. It provides Hollywood Bowl and John Anson Ford amphitheatres that feature musical festivals, dance performances, children's programs, fireworks and other attractions. The department s regional parks have lakes for sailing, water skiing, jet skiing and fishing. In addition, it manages various camp sites, playgrounds and tennis courts.
