I was recently in Mobile for the revival with some friends. We found this cafe online and decided to try it. All I can say is WOW. This quaint little cafe in the downtown area (make sure you get a map) is a little of the beaten path but not that hard to find. The food there is excellant and the service Great. We were served by Becky and she was the sweetest young lady and very helpful and patient. They don't have a lot of lunch items to choose from but what they have is wonderful. I had the ham & blue cheese croisant and tomato bisque soup, mmmm. The blue cheese was smooth and not overpowering. One friend had the frittata with conecca sausage, the other one had the chicken rollup and tomato bisque soup. And of course for dessert we just had to try the cakeballs I had the lemon one, one of my friends had the cakeball sunday thing with whipped cream and chocolate. We also had coffee, tea & caramel latte. This place is a treasure and any time I'm in the area will definately visit again. So glad we tried it. I would definately recommend this place to anyone.

This neighborhood coffee shop has something for everyone. Besides great, coffee drinks made from locally roasted coffee beans by experienced baristas, this little coffee shop has an ice cream bar, multiple pastry cases, candy counter, and a breakfast and lunch menu offering a hot breakfast as well as a light lunch. They even offer wine and champagne, as well as dessert drinks like chocolate martinis and ice cream drinks.
Cream & Sugar is located in the heart of the Oakleigh Historic Garden District in a newly renovated old home at the corner of George and Savannah Streets just one block from the Oakleigh Mansion and Museum. There is seating on the front porch, back patio, main floor and attic loft. There is even a picket fenced, grassy sideyard for the kids to play croquet or throw the football.
The menu is limited but well rounded offering crabmeat and goats cheese quiche as well as gumbo (served over cheese grits!), smoked tomato bisque, and several sandwiches. Breakfast is offered all day and includes an oven baked frittata and a grits casserole as well as several breakfast sanwiches.
The sweet pastries include their signature cake balls of all flavors as well as some coffee shop standards like baklava, espresso brownies, lemon squares and sugar cookies. Other specialty selections include homemade chocolate truffles, tiramisu, caramel turtles, strawberry cake, and Italian Cream Cake.
Everything is nicely done from the marble counter tops and original hardwood floors, to the beautiful and large bathroom. Keep the loft in mind for private parties adn the sideyard is perfect for children's birthdya parties.
Whether you're visiting Mobile and want to get a feel for its Southern charm, or you're a native and want to have coffee and dessert in the heart of our historic district, Cream & Sugar has something for everyone!
