Buyer Beware!

A valid caution made when dealing with “VICTORY TOYOTA OF NORTH WILKESBORO”!

I had for some time been looking for a good used pick-up at a good price in great shape, less than 80,000 miles, leather, sunroof, etc. Found it at Victory. All was good.

I was told it had a “Factory Warranty”. No I said, it has 76,000 miles and it’s 7 years old, how is that possible? There was a little consultation with the manager and the warranty became 90 days or three thousand miles bumper to bumper! OK, I was good with that. It ran well….had a minor transmission issue, needed a couple scratches buffed out and a leaky tire, but no problem, I have a Warranty!

Made a deal. We were Pre-approved with our lender. Put down a deposit and gave our trade-in. I signed the contract at the dealership but my wife also needed to sign. As she was in Boone I asked that they email a copy to be signed to which they agreed.

Now comes the interesting twist to the story…..The contract shows up in my email with a signature on a line reserved for buyer, that I intentionally did not sign, stating that I accept the vehicle in as is condition. WAIT…I HAVE A WARRANTY!

END OF DEAL!

I got my deposit back.

I got my trade back. However after I got it home I discovered that they had removed my 1 month old 700cca battery required to run the system on a Yukon Denali and replaced it with a used “econo power” battery that lacked sufficient amperage and subsequently fried the throttle body. (Should have checked before we drove it away considering their ethics or I should say lack thereof.) Mind you the deal had never been finalized, title had not been signed over……the vehicle was still legally mine.

Not quite over yet as they continued to run credit checks for 2 days after the deal went south. What kind of petty nonsense is that?

With all that said I really liked our salesguy Bobby G.. I hope he finds a better gig before this place rubs off on him.

Still waiting for a response.

I gave them one star because you have to give at least one. This is by far THE WORST car dealership I have ever dealt with. Multiple mistakes were made when trying to work out a deal with them. First, they quoted me a higher interest rate than I qualified for. So this made the payment an outrageous amount for the vehicle we were purchasing. Over three hours spent there and were still unable to reach a deal. The next morning, we were magically able to reach a deal with the CORRECT interest rate and the bonus cash offer which was on their website. Both of which were not mentioned the day before. Also to be included in the deal were free all-weather floor mats. Arrangements were made to pick up the vehicle that evening and I was told the vehicle would be ready, and was already being detailed. Upon arrival that evening, I was informed the vehicle was being detailed and was not ready yet - at 6:00pm. I finally left the dealership at 8:00pm with promises of a phone call in a couple of days regarding the free all-weather floor mats which had to be "ordered". A few days later, still no word from them. After an inquiry call, we were given generic rubber floor mats purchased from the local Wal-Mart which did not even fit inside the vehicle. After another phone call and another trip to the dealership, we were given the correct floor mats without an apology or explanation except that there must have been a mix-up. And lastly, they took their time submitting the payoff for my trade and another payment was deducted from my bank account. So after ANOTHER phone call, I am waiting for Victory Hyundai to reimburse me for a payment I made on a vehicle that they have. They don’t seem to understand that repeat customers are what make a company successful. I will NEVER purchase from there again. If you’re smart, you’ll stay away.

I'd say, don't go near the place. In 40+ years in which I've purchased a few cars, this was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. Their billboard sign states "North Carolinas largest VOLUME dealer." I'm sure they are for they will stoop to any level to sell a car.....even a 2011...one with a cut tire, dented and scratched lower panel from front tire to back.....after they show you the certifed inspection where it states the inspection is done every 30 days and there are no scratches dents or discoloration and that the tires are properly inflated, have no defects and are clean. Then they fail to honor whatever promotion may be going on at the time unless you purchase a car on THEIR terms, no matter if the price of the car was raised $2000 from the internet advertised price. Never have I been treated so badly, detained for over 61/2 hrs the first time, 4 more hours the second. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
