She received her undergraduate degree from the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, and her Master's and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Christ received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
