For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date according to the AVMA guidelines, unless a pet is not healthy enough to receive vaccines or for other reasons cannot be vaccinated.

Pain Management

Acupuncture: Acupuncture has been shown to be beneficial in many circumstances. Animals with joint pain or arthritis, or other chronic diseases, can respond extremely well to acupuncture. Integrating conventional medicine (including the use of pain medication) with this Ancient Chinese modality can produce a reduction in pain and an overall improvement in health.
Heart Disease Treatment
Ultrasound is a key diagnostic tool that can be used to determine diseases in dogs and cats. This tool uses high frequency sound waves to create live images that show the structure and function of an organ. The heart, liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas lymph nodes, intestines, and bladder are common organs that can be evaluated by ultrasound. Abnormalities we may be able to find by ultrasound in dogs and cats include heart disease, free fluid in the chest or abdomen, urinary and gallbladder stones, chronic kidney diseases, organ tumors, abscesses, cysts, retained testicles, and a myriad of other findings. A veterinarian will need to determine if your pet could benefit from an ultrasound. An ultrasound causes no harm to the pet, and most pets can remain awake during their ultrasound. Your pet may be given a mild sedative if they become stressed or if the veterinarian believes your pet may be painful during the ultrasound.
Kidney Disease Treatment
Lilies that may be found in holiday flower arrangements could be deadly to your cat. Many types of lily, such as Tiger, Asian, Japanese Show, Easter, Stargazer, and the Casa Blanca, can cause kidney failure in cats.

Take care when exercising your pet. On very hot days, limit exercise to early morning or evening hours, and be especially careful with pets with white-colored ears, who are more susceptible to skin cancer, and short-nosed pets, who typically have difficulty breathing. Asphalt gets very hot and can burn your pet's paws, so walk your dog on the grass if possible. Always carry water with you to keep your dog from dehydrating.

Our dental services include ultrasonic cleaning and polishing of teeth, dental X-rays to evaluate the health of the tooth under the gum, and minor oral surgery.
Veterinary Surgery
Dr. Hogue's professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and exotic small mammal medicine. She is a big advocate of using Fear Free techniques in the hospital to make pets' veterinary visits less stressful! In her free time, she loves serving at her church as well as reading, running, traveling, dancing, and visiting museums.
Spaying and Neutering
The only way to prevent this tragedy is to spay and neuter pets. We help you do your part by offering safe, affordable spaying (surgical removal of the female's uterus and ovaries) and neutering (surgical removal of the male's testes from the scrotum).

Laboratory Services
We offer three levels of in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in. Our doctors prefer the more comprehensive screen, because it gives them the most information to ensure the safety of your pet. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may be required before surgery as well.
