Overall

Sentara Virginia Beach "Princess Anne" Hospital is the worst hospital in the area. The nursing staff is very incompetent and has no business working in patient care. Furthermore, when this hospital opened it had to find people in the medical field to fill all the positions so they can open the doors for business. What they hired was all the rejects from other hospitals and medical facilities. They hired doctors who were fired from other hospitals, have disciplinary actions, prior lawsuits, drug habits, criminal records and many other issues in the past. The nursing staff they hired has the same issues and some can't even speak English. How do they expect a Non-English speaking nurse to care for a patient who cannot communicate with them? This is a real joke.

Also, if you have a problem with any of the staff you can always speak to a patient advocate personal. Wait, I tried that and it did no good. A total waste of time.

It seems that everyone working in this hospital is totally incompetent and should not be working in the medical field.

If you or someone you know is a patient in this hospital who feel that they are not getting the proper medical treatment that you are entitled to, then you have the rights to have the patient transferred to another nearby hospital.

Overall

My husband is a disabled veteran and usually gets all his medications and care from the VA hospital in Hampton. Well, his medication got lost in the mail and this specific medication causes very serious withdrawals and a lot of pain for him, so I called Sentara, being that we live in VA Beach instead of driving him all the way out to Hampton and they told me to bring him in because this was considered a medical emergency. When I brought him in, there was no one else there waiting and he told them what he was feeling and that he already has a heart condition and that his chest was hurting and it was radiating into both of his arms. The triage nurse was very rude to him because he came to Virginia Beach General instead of driving all the way out to Hampton to the VA hospital. Then we sat and waiting for 3 HOURS waiting while people coming in behind us were brought back immediately, who seemingly didn't really have much pain or sickness, meanwhile my husband was complaining of chest pain and still made to wait. Finally, we got a triage nurse who was willing to help us and she brought us back to the triage room and the DR met us in there, wonderful doctor. While we were waiting for the doctor to come in, my husband's chart was sitting in front of him and he could see the symptoms and complaints he reported. All she wrote was that he was anxious and jittery. She didn't even put in his chart that he was complaining of chest pain or that it was radiating down into his arms, or any of the other pain and discomfort he reported. All in all, we were VERY displeased with their level of care when it came to husband being extremely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain and their complete LACK of responsibility to him.
