Crowns
With the use of a 3-D infrared camera, we image the problem tooth along with the surrounding teeth. That information is fed into the CEREC acquisition computer, Dr. Widen designs the dental crown, inlay or onlay with the help of the computer. Once the final design is approved, the porcelain milling unit mills the restoration within 15 minutes. It is then tried in the mouth, bonded in place, adjusted and polished.

Dental Bonding
Cosmetic Bonding is the term used when a dentist ‘bonds’ a tooth colored resin onto the tooth to repair a fractured, worn or chipped tooth, cover up a discoloration on a tooth, or close a small space or gap between two teeth. Dr. Widen lightly prepares the tooth to receive the material and etches the surface so the material has more surface area to bond to. He coats the tooth with a bonding liquid and then shines a light on the tooth to set it. He then places the putty like material on the tooth and shapes it to the desires shape and then shines a light on the tooth again to harden the material. After it is set he trims and polishes the resin to a luster. This can be performed in one or more appointments depending on the number of teeth involved.

Jaw pain can also be caused a muscle spasm. Sometimes, when a muscle is injured it will start to spasm. For example, if you have had multiple injections in the same area by your dentist trying to numb you for a deep cleaning or restorations this can occur. This muscle spasm will prevent you from opening your mouth. This is commonly called lockjaw or Trismus. This limited mouth opening can continue until the spasm is eliminated. Typically we can treat this temporary spasm with one or two TENS sessions. Your can go back to having your mouth opening like it was before.
