Doctors are excellent and care for the dogs genuinely from their heart.

Technicians in the past had been rude and it took away from the hospital but bypassing that the care was in place. I’d say that they have changed the rude staff to people with good customer service skills and at this time for a couple of years back I have not experienced a negative experience. The technical staff and reception has been excellent.
The doctors always have had a 5 star on my review because they have saved the life of my dogs and when I had to make the hard choice to euthanize it’s been done gently, professionally and with a heart.
I wouldn’t trust anyone else.
I only wish they offered regular office visits care, I know it would have extended the lives of my dogs.

Honesty and Integrity like no other animal hospital around. I have taken several pets here and I've had great experience each time without breaking the bank!
1. I took my cat many years ago after she had surgery at another clinic. Her wound was opening up and the vet here put some dermabond on it and she did fine. He did not even charge me.
2. Jan 2018 I found a kitten on the turnpike and the vet looked at her and said she had a severe viral infection (she has puss oozing out of her eyes). He told me she wouldn't make it. He pet her, whispered to her and put her to sleep. He did not charge me anything.
3. April 2018, My retired parents got a puppy. The puppy was dehydrated. They brought her her. They check her glucose, her stool, gave her SQ fluids, sent her home with dextrose and flora repair and only charged $145. Any other place would have charged $300! The puppy is all better!

Other places may have state of the art furniture and equipment. But this place has integrity and honesty!

My dog was hit by a car and St. Francis Emergency Animal Hospital saved her life. It's been nearly 11 weeks since her accident which ripped open the front part of her leg and left her with a serious and wide wound. There was a chance that she would lose her leg. She had two surgeries there and has had multiple bandage changes, including on a daily basis for the first three weeks, and then nearly every other day since then. I've lost count how many times we've been there but think it's been around 30 visits. She has received excellent care from Dr. Ridge and all the staff. I am extremely grateful! I feel their fees for the surgeries and multiple bandage changes have been extremely fair and am sure that I would have been gouged somewhere else. The only down side here is that there is always just one vet on duty so once an animal is no longer an emergency, the waits can be long. However, I learned early on to bring reading material to catch up on. Between the excellent care, great staff, and very fair charges, the wait is a relatively minor detail!

First off I'm glad I didnt pay attention to the reviews and went with the recommendation of a family friend. We arrived late last night and they immediately went to work on our puppy. The Dr and staff on call were sympathetic, honest and comforting and are doing everything possible to help our puppy. These guys are great.

I brought my dog here as an emergency, he was in pain, crying and shaking. Dr. Ridge was more concerned about filling out his paperwork and going over charges. My dog was eventually put on IV fluids and pain meds. I was told to leave him overnight. The next day Dr. Ridge pulled me aside and explained my dog pulled out 2 catheters from his paw, he was furious. Isn't that what I'm paying him for? To care for and WATCH over him. He berated me in front of staff and other customers in the waiting room. I told him, please give me my dog and let me leave. Dr. Ridge followed behind me yelling "Do not come back here", "FIND ANOTHER VET!" as my dog is shaking in my arms. So much for a catholic animal hospital. They are more concerned with money than helping your pet. I told other vets what happened and all 3 of them told me that they do not refer any patients there because of the horror stories they've heard. If you love your pet, do not bring them here. There are other 24hr vets in the area.

I took my yorkie in on a Sunday evening because he was experiencing convulsions and what seemed to be seizures. The doctor on call seemed very interested in the situation we were trying to explain. Over the next few days my dog didn't show much improvement and the staff showed little interest to answer my questions just wanted to tell me about the cost of my dog being there. On the day I went to retrieve my dog the doctor still had no answers and showed no emotion for the fact that my dog was brought in for his so called "expertise". My professional opinion is if your pet is injured or ill please find another hospital that will show then care and compassion.

Stop! Find another Doctor!

After spending $$$ my puppy was still sick no answers. They wanted more money to figure it out. Basically they put my dog an IV to pep him up and let him go. No real diagnosis. When I called to say that he was still sick they brought me in to say they didn't have a clue, but for $$$ we will check it out. What the hell!! Please take your pet somewhere that cares and not just want to charge over for an over priced night stay. So sad my pup is still sick.

The worse experience of my life! Please don't go to this people the treatment towards the owner that just lost a pet is beyond horrible. I took my dog there because i am catholic and since saint Francis is the guardian of pets i believe that would be a great place specially when i was facing the possibility of having to let my baby go. The doctor was very blunt but polite, the nurse helping him was very nice and help a lot with my dogs passing. The problem came when i had to pay, unfortunately my card was declined i offered to pay with a check and they refused to take a check. At that point i was told i couldnt leave the office without making payment or they will call the cops. I explained i had no other form of payment and even applied for a credit service which i was denied. The person who i assume is the manager even went as far as telling me "well your dog is dead so nothing grantee you will pay" and also "well i don't know you so i don't know if you will pay". At this point i left the check on the counter and walked out and the called the cops and actually requested i be arrested because i stole from them by not paying. A dear friend did the favor of paying the bill as a loan.... but the point is i have never seen people treat a person wight after the loss of someone important in their life this way. I was already devastated by the death on my pup... there was no need for this treatment.

Terrible

Dr. Ridge is very rude and dry. It was obvious he had no sympathy toward my pet and his main objective was the money I was about to pay. Gave me little to no insight about what was wrong with my pet. Answered with sarcastic remarks and just does not look like an animal or people person. Never thought I'd meet such an a** of a doctor.

worst experience

I brought my mothers persian cat at 1am, the cat was very sick, but the clerk at the front made sure the 20 mins of paperwork was complete before acknoledging we even brought our cat in. We then went into the exam room, where it took another 10 mins to meetup with someone who only wanted to discuss pricing options for the necessary blood transfusion. It was later mentioned that there wasnt even a donor cat there, but he knew other locations. As my mother asked for possible solutions, he cut her off and pointed to the cat, and told her it was too late, the cat was dead... The cat then started in convulsions and loud noises before finally she stopped.. The man did nothing but watch as the cat died in front of us becuase we could not afford the $135 fee to have the cat put to sleep, all we had was 110$. So after the horrible care and worst experience, the clerk at the front charged us $106 'doa disposal fee'... This company claims to do whatever they can to save 'part of your family' but enless you have cash on hand when ur pet is dying in front you,

Dr. Ridge is like the "House" of vets! His bedside manner is a little unorthodox but he has dedicated his life to low cost veterinary care and emergency services to pets and their owners. I could not be happier with the service provided. All of the staff were attentive and gave my old girl (she's 16.5 years old) the best care anyone could ask for. I am very pleased with the vet service! Also, Dr. Ridge is all bark with no bite!

Dr. Ridge , the owner and Vet ...

Dr. Ridge , the owner and Vet at St Francis was great with my dogs and cat. All my experiences were amazing. First, I took my moms dog Coco, a teacup yorkie after he was stepped on and could not breathe. I thought he was not going to make it and after 4 days in an oxygen tank and a very low bill get was able to go home, that was 2 years ago and he is doing great. Another time I took my cat who had a lot of blood in his unine, we rushed him to Fort Lauderdale Emergency hospital, and they told me without looking at him that it was going to be 1500 plus and that he might need surgery because he had an obstructed bladder. I decided to take my cat out of there to Dr. Ridge at St. Francis, after checking the cat he said he had a bladder infection, gave me antibiotics and I took him home, that was one year ago and he is doing great. St. Francis is the most affortable and best emergency and non emergency place I ever took my pets and I will continue to take them there because they are honest and don't rip you off like the other Vet offices and emergency places.
