I have been going to Dr Loken for 30 years. Fortunately, I have never needed anything with my pets other than shots. But when my new girl had a situation that was disregarded by another vet twice. Dr Loken took his time listening and looking at my dog. One day and there is FINALLY improvement thanks to him.

He is a quiet man, but I will continue to stay close to home for his expertise as a vet and as a listener.

I normally don't write reviews but felt it was needed in this case.
I have taken my dogs and cats to Dr Lokan for about 22 years.
Personally I do not care for the man most of the time.
He goes through employees very fast which makes it harder on his customers.
As for his wife the only positive thing I can say about her is she's rarely there.
I give Dr Lokan 5 stars for his skills as a veterinarian, 5 stars for his concern for my animals, 1 star for his people skills.
If you're looking for a knowledgeable vet that we take great care of your furry loved ones than its hard to beat Dr Lokan, if you're looking for customers service than go elsewhere.
Dr Lokan has saved many of my dogs and one of my cats.
When I know its a matter of life or death I wouldn't trust any other Vet now that Dr Colette has retired.

If you love your animals, don't take them to Dr. Loken. He lacks any reasonable technical skills. He failed to recognize my pets severe and immediate adverse reaction to standard vaccinations. My multiple calls to his office were met with ignorance and failure to take the matter seriously. I took my pet back in hours later, without advice from them and he again failed to properly diagnose the vaccination reaction and continued to refuse to consider this. My beloved pet died a little over 2 hours after being sent home...all due to annual vaccinations!! I also found an article where he admitted giving a standard microchip implant in 2009 to a dog who bled to death. He needs to go back to vet school. Were he not located in a small, ignorant town, he would have been out of business long ago.

UPDATE - 5/5/2013 **** The California Veterinary Board has cited and fined Reid Loken for - Negligence:Respondent failed to provide adequate therapy for a systemic post-vaccination reaction on 7/19/2011-and Record Keeping as Responded failed to document complete physical exam findings, complete drug dosages, surgical procedure description and a diagnostic/assessment. He has been fined $500 and this citation and fine will remain on his record for 5 years, then will be expunged. If you want to take your pet to this vet after you read this review God help your poor pet.

i was going to this place thinking it was a great place to take my pets which mean everything to me,and the doctors wife that works in the front office treated me with such disresepct.yelling at me for no reason because i was there to pick up a refill of meds for my dog and she told me i had to have the dog seen again for a recheck which was not true,the doctor approved the meds and drove all the way over there for her to tell me no.so then i made an appt to see the doctor to get this straight,then they cancelled my appt due to a little bad weather.my poor dog has an bad ear infection and needed to be seen right away.they were very rude,and there is alot more to this story.the young girls that work there are just wonderful and i feel sorry for them to have put up with their these two people.but jobs are very hard to come by right now,and they feel horrible about what i went though.i have brought 3 of my family members to them and told lots of people to go to him,and i deal with alot of animal lovers like myself.i've called everyone and told them not to give him their business! i'm very disappointed in this doctor and his wife ,which is worse.she even treated my mother horrible on the phone when she called just asked a question about her dog..........so please take ur business elsewhere......we dont have much of a slection of vets up here,in palmdae, and i really thought he was the one
