X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
One of the most important aspects of our exams is oral cancer screening. In this year alone, over 40,000 people in the US will be diagnosed with oral cancer. When found early, oral cancer has a high survival rate; unfortunately most oral cancer is found as late stage cancer without routine exams. When we find an area of concern in a patient’s mouth, we work closely with an oral surgeon who will perform further evaluation in order to determine which treatment may be needed.

Teeth Cleaning
When the use of sealants are accompanied by an oral health regimen that includes regular dental exams and cleanings, fluoride, a healthy diet, and good at-home dental care we can greatly reduce and/or prevent the number of cavities experienced by children.
Fluoride Treatment
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are an excellent tool to use in the prevention of tooth decay in children. Dental sealants are applied to teeth, especially molars with large crevices where bacteria can accumulate and cause cavities. The sealant fills in the crevices forming a barrier to protect the tooth surface.

Veneers can help produce great smiles. Teeth that have been stained, chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged can look beautiful with this strong and durable technique.
Crowns
If more than half of your tooth has been restored with a filling, a crown may be necessary for any further restoration. Without adequate support, the tooth may break away around the filling. Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes the nerve in a tooth can become infected due to extensive decay, trauma, or a crack. Rather than having the tooth removed, root canal treatment cleans out the infected nerve so that the tooth can be saved. We refer our patients to several area endodontists to ensure the best outcome possible for your tooth.

Dentures
When you are missing all of your natural teeth, dentures can replace the missing teeth and restore your smile. When missing teeth, your facial muscles are not supported and you may look much older. Dentures will provide support for your facial muscles as well as make it easier to eat, speak and smile.

If you have one or more missing teeth and would like a restoration option that looks and feels like natural teeth, dental implants may be a perfect option for you. Dental implants can also be used to securely anchor dentures so you’ll have no more problems with loose dentures that interfere with speaking, eating and smiling.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Dr. Koch is originally from the Pocono area in Pennsylvania, and graduated summa cum laude from Lehigh University in 2002 with a BS in Biology. During college, Dr. Koch earned her Pennsylvania state x-ray certification and worked as a dental assistant, as well as a summer intern at Lehigh Valley Hospital. She earned her DMD with highest honors from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2006. While at Temple, she was a member of the Oral Surgery Honor Society, as well as the Stomatognathic Honor Society. Dr. Koch was one of a small group of students in her class to be inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Orthodontics
Instant orthodontics is a procedure that straightens teeth using bonded porcelain veneers or crowns instead of braces. In just a few appointments, both gaps between the teeth and crowding can be corrected.

Dr. Koch is an active member of the Lehigh Valley Health Network Medical Staff, and also is an attending dentist for the hospital’s dental residency program. For eleven years, she provided dental care to children on the Miles of Smiles mobile dental clinic. A member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Lehigh Valley Dental Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society, Dr. Koch also earned her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2013. In 2020, Dr. Koch became a Certified HealthyStart Provider, helping children improve achieve straighter teeth without braces and address symptoms of sleep disordered breathing.
