Oil Change
Maintenance for a driveshaft is only necessary on certain vehicles. When the slip-yoke, CV-joint, or u-joint has a grease fitting, this should always be greased at each scheduled engine oil change service.

Transmission and Drivetrain

Transmission Service
While most automobiles today have automatic transmissions, there are still some cars and pick-up trucks that have a manual transmission. No matter which type of transmission your vehicle has, both require periodic transmission maintenance services to function as designed.
Transmission Repair
Automatic transmission repair involves partially disassembling your car’s transmission and repairing a portion of it or removing it from your vehicle to do major repair work. The automatic transmission is one component in your vehicles drivetrain. It takes the power from the engine and connects it to your cars wheels with axles or a driveshaft.
Transmission Fluid Service
There are primarily two methods used to provide fluid services. The first is a “drain and fill” method where the old fluid is drained out and replaced with new fluid. This is the method used for virtually all manual transmissions. If a drain plug is present, it is removed to drain the old fluid, and replaced before installing clean fluid. Some automatic transmissions are serviced with this method when a drain plug is present. During this procedure, there is no access to a filter if one is present.
Transmission Replacement
Clutch Service/Repair
If you are driving a car, pick-up or SUV with a manual transmission, clutch repair service is something you might need in the near future. The more you know about symptoms of clutch problems and their causes, the more likely you are to get a quality repair for a fair price when the time comes.
Differential Service/Repair
Another common function of the differential is to allow both wheels to drive equally in slippery conditions. The differential can have positive traction clutches or locking mechanisms to stop one wheel from slipping. These differentials may require special gear oil or require additives during differential service.
Axle Repair
Your front-wheel drive car has CV joint drive axles that take the engine’s power through the transmission and send it to the front wheels. The CV joint flexes to let your wheels turn even though they are under a heavy load from the engine and weight of the car.

Steering and Suspension

CV Boot Replacement
The most common drive axle failures occur when one or both of the rubber CV boots starts cracking due to age. This allows the grease in the joint to be thrown out as the axle spins over time. Without grease in place to lubricate it, the CV joint will start to make a clicking noise heard most often when making a turn.
