General Info
Fordham University is an independent, four-year liberal arts, Jesuit university. Founded in 1841, Fordham has residential campuses in the Bronx, Manhattan and Tarrytown and the Louis Calder Center Biological Field Station in Armonk, N.Y. In addition to a range of liberal arts majors, there is a commitment to the training of students in fields including media studies, visual arts and theater. Many courses incorporate resources and programming offered by the city's artistic and cultural institutions, social service agencies and varied neighborhoods. Special programs include the EXCEL program for adults older than 21, most of whom have had a break in their education and the College at Sixty for adults over age 50. The university maintains six graduate schools, offering individual master's and doctoral degree programs and training for the professions of law, finance and industry, government and public service, ecclesiastical leadership and pastoral care, education, psychology, social work and academic scholarship.
