I find it funny how people usually write reviews when they have something negative to say. Joya always has long waits on the weekends but they are deffinetly worth the time! Food is amazing -best pad thai and spring rolls in Brooklyn-and their alcoholic drinks are very good too. The place is a good choice for a variety of occations, family, dates, celebrations, etc. The hosts are friendly, considering how many impatient customers they probably run into. But whats great is that you can always sit at the bar while you wait. The crowd is great, there are a variety of people. Overall A+!

Provided by SuperpagesOn Jan 17,2009, two of my friends and I met at Joya. They arrived before me and explained how rude the owner was to them while they waited for me to arrive, We had appetizers, dinner and drinks. The waiter was kind and asked if we wanted dessert. We declined and decided on drinks instead. No less than 3 min (no exaggeration) our waiter came back and said the owner wants us to move to the bar so they can give the table to someone else. Of course we didnt think that was fair and said we would like to stay at the table and have our drinnks. The owner flew over and screamed I have been more than nice to you and if you dont go to the bar and drink your drinks then pay your bill and get the f--k out! His exact words. We havent evev recieved our bill yet. We are in shock and disbelief of the total disrespect. It turned into a screaming arguement and alot of hurtful words was exchanged. His husband had the nerve to join in with insults. NEVER in my life have I experienced this b4. DISAPPOINTED

Provided by SuperpagesThe owner pushed me twice and stepped on my feet while I was waiting for a take out order. The first time he asked me to get out of his way and I did. The second time, even though I was not in his way he proceeded to push me and step on my feet. When I politely asked him why, he accused me of pulling the "race card," when I didn't say anything about race in the first place. So now I'm saying that he is a racist because he proceeded to tell me that I should leave his restaurant and that I would not get served there. I guess it's ok for him to treat me like that because he some big time restaurant owner and I'm just a lowly black girl trying to get some food. That's fine, but just don't be surprised if you are treated terribly at this place.
