We left NYC two years ago, but return to Dr. Dendtler for routine care for our dog, Toots. Last month, Toots had a rapid-onset loss of appetite and lethargy and we took her to an area animal hospital. She was admitted with a fever over 105. We reached out to Dr. D, who was immediately all-in via frequent phone consultations, conferring with local vets, and patiently explaining Toots’ condition to us. After 3 days her fever was not coming down. Dr. D literally pleaded with these vets to exhaust all therapies to bring down the fever. These were no doubt well-trained clinicians, but their solution was to aim a fan at our sick dog. We wanted Toots out of there, and Dr. D said she’ll be with us all the way while we nursed Toots at home. She coached us through tepid baths, special ‘milkshakes,’ temperature monitoring, and ol’ fashioned TLC; and Toots’ fever fell to normal. It was a moving experience to nurse our sick, sweet dog back to health. We are so grateful to Dr. D and her staff.
