        Chino Valley Equine hospital was founded as a full service referral hospital in Chino, California in 1970. As the practice outgrew its facilities, we opened a new state of the art facility in 2007 on English Place in Chino Hills, serving the equine community around Los Angeles. We employ over 25 members of staff enabling us to provide full orthopedic, soft tissue, gastrointestinal and medicine consultations. We have multiple surgery suites for standing, general and orthopedic surgeries enabling us to perform arthroscopies, laparoscopies, thoracoscopies utilizing diode and carbon dioxide laser units. There is also a pool recovery system which is used for orthopedic cases. There are three main stabling areas, the intensive care unit, the main barn and the Isolation facility, allowing us to care for all eventualities, including foaling and neonatal care. We are affiliated with Western University School of Veterinary Medicine and provide education and training for students, in addition to offering externships and internships. We perform various diagnostics tests including upper airway endoscopy, gastroscopy, high speed treadmill evaluations, ultrasonography and digital radiography in several exam areas. We have an excellent in house laboratory enabling us to analyze blood samples and to culture and grow bacterial organisms. We are open 24/7 and provide care for a range of equine breeds and performance levels for both elective and emergency patients. We see approximately 1000 outpatients every year, 1100 are admitted as inpatients and over 900 surgeries are performed, of which approximately 200 are from emergency colic referrals.

        Would not be my first choice

        First visit: my mare had a lameness exam & xrays performed by Dr. Fischer. He was impersonal and not forthcoming when answering our questions. The interns were also impersonal and seemed confused as they moved from horse to horse as if working a disorganized assembly line. Dr. Fischer has a wonderful reputation as a surgeon, so perhaps that is where his talents emerge. Second visit: two years later my same mare was under Dr. Brauer's care when she suffered severe colic. She endured iv, treatment for ulcers, surgery, eventual quarantine, and finally euthanasia after 12 days. Dr. Brauer continued to insist that her vitals would improve and she just felt like "crap." Meanwhile, the office called me each day to ensure that I paid the daily balance. It was Dr. Klohnen who spoke frankly and honestly, sharing his prognosis while filling in for Brauer. I agreed that my horse had suffered enough; my beloved mare was euthanized that day. I'd like to think that Dr. Brauer did everything he could to save her, but I can't help wonder if he is incompetent, or a very good salesman.

        I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING.....HAVE BAD STAFF DIRTY ROOMS AND BATHROOMS, THEY NEVER CLEANED THE ROOM FOR THE THREE DAYS THERE. BAD ATTITUDE FROM THE NURSES,THE HOSPITAL SHOULD HAVE COMPASSION FOR THE PATIENTS NO MATTER WHAT THE REASON THEY ARE THERE. MY HUSBAND WAS THERE FOR ALMOST A WEEK. HE HAS TREATED REALLY BAD. THAT'S HOW HE WAS TREATED WHEN I WAS THERE I CAN IMAGEN HOW HE WAS TREATED WHEN NO ONE WAS WITH HIM...THIS HOSPITAL DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE A STAR ....
