Cafe Madrid

My dinning partner & I are big fans of tapas restaurants & have also traveled to Spain & tried it first hand. We have heard the hype about Cafe Madrid & finally tried out. We were extremely disappointed to say the least in comparision to another tapas restaurant in Addison. The atmosphere was "ok" - no music, just the rumblings of people talking. Minimal parking at best & were blocked in when we departed. The fresh bread was good & the squid was tasty, but the sweet breads, cheese plate, shrimp with garlic all fell flat. The olives stuffed with "anchovies" were stuffed with paste not anchovies & the olives were picked too early - not buttery as expected & small. Overall very disappointed & will not return.

Cafe Madrid is perhaps my most favorite restaurant in Dallas, and has remained such for over eight years - where do I begin? FOOD: Definitely start with a pitcher of their secret-recipe Sangria. Tapas are consistently wonderful - I've never tried anything there I didn't like. When I go, my tapas staples include the Potato Tortilla with Aioli, Garlic Shrimp, and Spinach Croquettes (a little piece of heaven in your mouth!). SERVICE: Service has always been pleasant, but can be slow at times - especially when it's crowded. But if you've ever been to tapas cafes in Europe - Spain Italy or France - you'll know that's the norm. ATMOSPHERE:Small, quiet, low-lit. It's like stepping into a little european cafe. Definitely a place to go with good friends - tapas are better when their shared! Everyone orders 2 or 3 items, put them all in the center, and have a mix & match family-style grazing feast.

Huge selection of tapas. Plus, really tasty Sangrias. Come hungry!

Outside seating in nice,best pitcher of sangria I have had in a while. Try a potato pancake.
