Tropical Performance

Horrible customer service from owner! I just left there without being serviced as the owner berrated me with the assumption I arrived late for my appointment. Mind you I came in and was halfway greeted by the receptionist who failed to defend me to the owner when he stated I was not there at 12:30. Then he told me he needs a few minutes before helping me as he mumbled under his breath about me not being there. Being shocked and appalled by the back and forth, I decided to take my car elsewhere. The job was simple. Pre-insurance inspection. Maybe the owner has an issue with doing these as he was rude to me from the moment I made the appointment over the phone to me leaving the shop.

First, let me tell you about me. I'm a business teacher - female and petite - and I have a huge "don't you dare take advantage of me" complex.



Today was my first experience with Tropical Permance and it though the circumstance was bad - I'm soooo GLAD to have met this business. Let me tell you why....



This morning, I brought my car to Meineke Weston to have my oil and fuel filter changed. They called me back with a $2000 repair estimate. They said that my power steering was squirting oil everywhere... My husband was convinced they wouldn't lie to him but he forgets.... Last summer, we had the power steering replaced by a guy who specialized in Mercedes. So after arguing with my husband, I told NO - I WANT A SECOND OPINION!!!



This is where Tropical Performance comes in. I picked up the car and asked my friend if he would bring me to his mechanic to get my second opinion. We drove straight to Tropical Performance. They had a lot of cars in the shop, but Erin said they'd take a look. I mentioned to her that Meineke said that I had a bad power steering and I'm a teacher in Miami (30 miles away) I'd hate to drive a dangerous car. The way Meineke explained it, it was really bad.... So Erin asked the mechanic to put it up on a lift right away - they fit me in (go figure...) - looked at it and came back to tell me that they can't find a leak. What they see is old thrown everywhere, but that it doesn't look like old caked on oil. And... if it was power steering fluid, it would be RED oil. Then, I handed them the repair estimate from Meineke (totaling $2000). You should have seen Erin's face. I could tell that she didn't want to accuse anyone of anything, but she went back to the mechanic to check all the parts that were supposed to be bad according to the Meineke estimate. She came back and told me that they couldn't find anything. IMAGINE THAT!!! So the mechanic cleaned up my car engine and asked me to come back Monday afternoon when Mike - the master mechanic - can check to see if it leaks over the weekend. Total charge = $0 THEY ARE GOOD PEOPLE! They could have totally charged me for their time - nothing! In fact, they asked me to come in for a check up and to meet the owner.... SUPER WOW!!!
