Jean Leigh Academy of Dance

For well over 10 years I have been amazed at the performance that Jean Leigh puts on each year for revue. It is truly a spectacular production. Having seen many other revues over the years, I can appreciate all of the details (small and large) that go into putting this together for everyone to see the end of a year of hard work put in by the students and teachers. It is sold out every year. And I don't doubt that it will be sold out with 2 performances scheduled for next year to accommodate the unprecedented growth of the studio this past year. Jean Leigh may not be for everyone. I believe it is for the parent who wants their child to have a great technical start in the art of dance and for the student who wants to be molded into not just a good dancer, but a great one. Even if the student has no desire to be a professional dancer and no interest in possible scholarships in the future, Jean Leigh is a great studio for beginners and advanced alike. And if these happen to be future dreams of your dancer - then it is one of the best places to be. After 9 years, my daughter still loves it. It was fun and challenging for her from day 1 and that hasn't changed. From dancing with her daddy on stage at 3 years old to becoming an assistant for one of her all time favorite dance teachers, no one could ever convince her that Jean Leigh is not the place for her. And I would have to agree.

This is the best dance company. I've been to countless reviews over the years & none of them come close to Jean Leigh. The dance programs are unreal! The review is mesmerizing. The talent she has teaching shows in her students. I'll continue to attend her reviews even when all the children I know have graduated & unfortunately stopped performing. Love love love this company! I know she may be pricey, but it's so worth it

I am so disappointed in this dance studio that I have removed my child from their program 2 weeks before the recital, opting for her to not perform in the recital. When we initially registered we were given a list of fees, including a recital fee and a costume fee along with their due dates. We paid both fees on time. A newsletter in October noted a fee for an extra costume for my husband for the 'daddy dance'. No amount was given to address that fee. The costume was distributed in early May, still no charge/mention of a fee. On June 1st, when trying to obtain the wristband to get my daughter backstage for the recital, I was informed of the fee ---$85 ---. The costume distributed was a Halloween costume, the exact same brand can be found on Walgreens.com for $24.99. The costume for my daughter for that dance was also a Halloween costume, which they charged me an $85 fee for and ordered a size 6 for my (and every other) child in that THREE YEAR OLD class. Their only explanation (and I talked directly to the owner) was that they make revenue off of their costumes and they keep the fees the same for everyone out of fairness. When we signed up for the class it was advertised as ballet, tap and acrobats. We were told their would be 20 minutes of instruction in each area/class. I choose this option to introduce my daughter to different extra-curricular activities. The acrobats portion of the class was completely dropped when they started working on the review...it was clear that this is all about their show. The dance for ballet does not have one toe point, plie, 1st position, etc....not one DANCE move at all. I understand she's 3, but they say they are the best of the best. Overall, we met some great friends there (none of whom say they will put their child in this program next year), so it's not a total loss. I do not recommend this studio to anyone. I am hugely disappointed.
