Small pads called electrodes will be placed on your chest to monitor the electrical activity of your heart through the study. Your blood pressure, heart rate, and electrocardiogram are monitored before, during, and after the test.

Ultrasound is used to see internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs. Using high frequency sound waves, the radiologist can often determine the source of a disease or exclude any pathology. MRI
An MRI scan, also called magnetic resonance imaging uses a strong magnet and radio waves to align water molecules in the area being imaged. Since our bodies are made up of mostly water and each organ has different quantities of water in it, the images acquired show differences in normal and abnormal anatomy.

Mammography
MOM, Mammos on the Move, is powered by Desert Imaging. Our mobile mammography units have been serving the El Paso and surrounding areas with screening mammograms since 2007.
Computed Tomography
Computed Tomography or CT scan is also known as a CAT (computerized axial tomography) scan. This is a unique examination because it combines the use of X-rays and a computer to produce clear, sharp pictures within your body. The images of your body are divided into slices, much like slices from a loaf of bread.
Chemotherapy
Known biopsy-proven malignancy – Appropriate action should be taken This category is only used for findings on a mammogram that have already been shown to be cancer by a previous biopsy. Mammograms may be used in this way to see how well the cancer is responding to treatment. Some cancers are often made to shrink using chemotherapy to later be removed by a surgeon.
Radiation Therapy
PET/CT is a powerful imaging tool that combines a PET (positron emission tomography) scan and a computed tomography (CT) scan. PET/CT is used to diagnose, stage, or restage cancer, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The images provide information about the location, nature, and size of a tumor or mass. The CT’s newer technology and faster scan times result in less radiation exposure to patients. Its wider open design decreases claustrophobia and provides better access for larger patients and radiation therapy planning for cases requiring more space, such as breast cancer.

Dr. Akle has a Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Miami, Florida. He also has a Fellowship in Neuroradiology from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Radiology. He did his Medical School training at Catholic University of Louvain, Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Akle has over 7 years experience in academic Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology.
