Local Art & Food

The attention to detail is obvious from the start, from the decor & art to the local, organic ingredients used. A menu that changes daily, and I certainly do recommend the carrot soup, along with the fabulous choice of teas. You could even witness Michael bursting out in song....!

Appealing, healthy, thoughtful...

Appealing, healthy, thoughtfully prepared meals in an artistic setting, an ever-evolving menu, and a special ambiance sets this cafe apart. A genuinely friendly host and the availability of the only authentic soda fountain in North County are added embellishments. You won't be disappointed here.

Dining on fine food and art

Michael has created a fun environment for dining amidst Fallbrook's colorful blend of artists and local characters. With a nice variety of teas and coffees, wine and beer, and classic soda fountain fare, Michael combines local produce with a Mediterranean flavor, resulting in an ever-changing and always satisfying menu. The Cafe's art exhibits and literary events provide a neat backdrop for enjoying a leisurely meal while absorbing local and national talent. All told, Cafe des Artistes offers great food, a joyful ambiance, and always entertaining characters.

Excellent Food and Atmosphere

Cafe Des Artistes offers an excellent lunch and bistro dinner menu! I am always impressed with the friendly service and delicious soups that are made daily. The pannini is also fantastic. If you like delicious food, reasonably priced wine and beer, and an artistic, city-like atmosphere visit Cafe Des Artistes.

Congenial and Tasty

The Cafe-Des-Artistes in Fallbrook is worth a trip. Fallbrook is a lovely drive through winding hills with many flowers. The Cafe-Des-Artistes has delicious food at reasonable prices. The wine is carefully selected. The owner and host, Michael Calvanese, is congenial and a great conversationalist. For an occasional (or frequent!!) special treat, try Michael's special chocolate malt. The salmon sandwich is my favorite, and the salad's are excellent.

Quality with a bit of character

Cafe D'Artist is a quaint little cafe/restaurant located in downtown Fallbrook. Once the local drug store with old fashioned soda fountain the cafe is now shares the building with the Fallbrook Center for the Arts.

The food is outstanding with great service and if you ask the owner/propriator Michael will give you some background on the variety of art and his roots back in New York.

Last week I reluctantly tried the carrot soup and was blown away. By far the best soup I have ever had. Now I want my wife to get the receipe.

A great choice for lunch or dinner

Comfort food at its best.

We love going to the Cafe Des Artisites for its atmosphere and true authentic food selections. If you are craving comfort food you really need to try their Osso Bucco, one of my personal favorites. If looking for a light and waist conscious lunch, the Cafe Des Artistes is the best choice. Amazing salads and sandwiches with the warm and funny personalities of the full service staff. If you haven't tried this restaurant, you are missing the boat.

A Cafe worth your visit

If having a great meal at a fair price in a quiet and peaceful setting is your liking, then this is a spot to dine at. Centrally located in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook it offers not only an opportunity to get an enjoyable meal, but a location to start your walking tour of the historical downtown shopping area. And since the cafe is in the Art Center you may luck out and find a display of fine art to view and acquire.I have had excellent dining experiences at this cafe and highly recommend it be on your list of places to dine.

Hidden Gem in Fallbrook

Tucked behind the Art Center in the middle of Fallbrook, is a surprise! Cafe des Artistes is a small, unassuming place - featuring local artists' work on the walls. The food is eclectic and always masterfully prepared- with home made soups a speciality and mouth watering desserts from a local bakery. . Drop in for lunch and meet the professional and friendly owner, Michael and sample the specials - which change daily.

Expert Foodie's Recommendation!

Cafe des Artistes is one of my very favorites....the food is always fresh, innovative, healthy and served in such ambiance that NYC should envy!

Not too many smaller towns have the luxury of a cafe that really knows how to please those of us who know our way around the kitchen. Michael and his staff are to be admired! Best way to do that is go and EAT!

Touch of the Big Apple in friendly Fallbrook

Cafe Des Artistes reminds me, a native New Yorker, of the trendy, sophisticated clubs I frequented when I lived in the City. Micheael keeps it real with a warm, friendly atmosphere, a sense of humor and delicious food. The desserts are out of this world!. When friends come to visit I always recommend Cafe Des Artistes.

Fallbrook's little café

I have had many a pleasant lunch, and a few dinners, at Michael Calvanese's Café des Artistes in Fallbrook, which provides a certain sophistication in a cozy and homey sort of place. Perhaps most important, The lunches, especially, are both tasty and healthy. I'm a soup person and the Café has served up many a fine bowl to me. But the sandwiches are equally good. Then there are the yummy desserts and soda fountain goodies. Try it if you are in or near Fallbrook.

Local Organic

I love that Cafe Des Artistes does its best at supporting what is local, i.e. local organic lettuce greens, local desserts etc. Not to mention the creative and artistic environment.
