Volta Coffee Tea & Chocolate

Volta: Where tea is serious business! My experience at Volta reminded me of the stories my husband has told me about his trip to communist Russia in the mid-1980's of waiting in long lines for approved items. Rather than being given a suggestion as to why I should not re-steep my tea, I was told that the practice was something that is "frowned upon" as it would give me a bad impression of the tea's quality. I'm still not quite clear if this business' policy is a matter of being cheap, or a matter of being arrogant, but when my reasonable request for hot water is rejected for my own "safety," I feel patronized and not valued as a customer. If you like going to a place where all decisions have policies that are strictly adhered to and your personal judgment takes a back seat to your barrista's culinary prowess, then this is the right place for you! ... and remember, freedom isn't free... it starts with your tea!
