World Gym

only downside is the crowded evenings, but the early morning workouts are peacefuL

Hardcore, no frills gym. 90% guys. Great place for serious lifters, as opposed to other local gyms. I live closer to the two '24 hour fitness' gyms on Brand, Blvd but I found both of those gyms to be routinely over-crowded.



World Gym is much cheaper (I paid $150 for a year) and in my experience not as crowded as 24 hour. World Gym has a ton of free weights and machines. Also, a key factor in me coming here was they have boxing bags, which again, the local 24 hour fitness did NOT have.



Staff is minimal and often no where to be seen, especially during day time hours. When they do have people there (evenings/weekends) they have a smoothie bar where they will make good protein shakes and the like.



Only two cons I have for this gym: they don't have a solid staff of trainers on-hand, their one water fountain barely puts out water (better to bring your own water bottle or shake).



Overall I am very happy and feel my $150/year was well spent. Again, it's no frills...but for me that's exactly what I'm looking for.
