Hampton History Museum is at 120 Old Hampton Ln. With Hampton said to be the oldest continuously English-speaking settlement in North America, the museum's 11 galleries showcase more than 4 centuries of local history. Interactive exhibits depict the arrival of Capt. John Smith, the culture of the Powhatan Indians, the demise of the pirate Blackbeard, the 1861 burning of Hampton and the city's founding role in aeronautics and space exploration.
