Jaw Surgery
Open bites are a type of malocclusion and constitute an incorrect manner in which the patient’s opposing front teeth meet. If you see a gap between your upper and lower teeth when you bite, you could be dealing with this form of misalignment. This issue can be eliminated through corrective jaw surgery, TADs, and/or the use of headgears and braces. Though the use of braces and a crib, we’ve managed to correct an overbite caused by thumb sucking in a 13-year old patient.
Tooth Extractions
Crowding occurs when teeth do not have enough space to stay properly aligned within one’s jaws. This issue can lead to a poor oral hygiene routine, which in turn may cause dental decay and gum problems. Additional space can be created by expanding the upper jaw or via dental extractions. An orthodontist can then realign the teeth using braces or clear aligners. In only 26 months, we’ve managed to help an 11-year old overcome this problem and take pride in a flawless, healthy smile.

Orthodontics
In 2008, Dr. Dan Fishel succeeded in consolidating his higher education by completing a four year residency in orthodontics and periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. His combined residency is the only one of its kind all across the U.S. and has given him the opportunity to diagnose and address a wide array of orthodontic and periodontal problems, and create and follow all the steps leading to a successful, personalized treatment plan.
