Dental Examination
Going to the dentist can be a daunting experience for anyone. Children, in particular, may be anxious about visiting the dentist. While sitting for a teeth cleaning and exam may not be a problem, allowing the dentist to perform more complicated procedures such as filling a cavity or extracting a tooth may be challenging.
X-rays
Because we care about your child’s bodily health and well-being, we believe that reducing the amount of radiation exposure is extremely important. Although the amount of radiation used in dental X-rays is very small, the effect is cumulative, so all radiation counts. Digital X-rays can reduce your child’s exposure to radiation by up to 80 percent!

Teeth Cleaning
Dr. Chu, Dr. Yu and our team want our patients to feel that coming to the dentist is not scary; in fact, it can be a lot of fun! We’ve designed our office to be a child-friendly, positive, happy space. Patients love our fun surfing décor, ceiling-mounted TVs that show movies right over the dental chairs, yummy flavors of cleaning paste for the kids to choose from during their dental cleanings, and many stuffed animals around the office to make the kids feel at home. We even give out toys and stickers after appointments!
Fluoride Treatment
Your child should visit the dentist every six months for regular dental cleanings and checkups. We recommend fluoride treatments twice a year along with cleanings to keep teeth their strongest. Tooth sealants are also recommended because they “seal” the deep grooves in your child’s teeth, preventing decay from forming in these hard-to-reach areas. Sealants last for several years, but will be monitored at your child’s regular checkups.
Dental Sealants
Ask your dentist about dental sealants, a protective plastic coating that can be applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where decay often starts.

Crowns
Though SDF has very low toxicity, it does stain cavities permanently black. It also does not restore tooth form or function, so after application, the teeth will need to be restored with fillings or crowns. Repeated application of SDF is required for maximum efficacy. SDF cannot be used if the decay has penetrated into the dental nerve, or in the presence of infection.
