These guys installed a timing belt at my request, and I asked the owner to take a look why my 2000 beetle was overheating. I explained that my dad and brother had changed thermostat, waterpump and sensor already. Owner diagnosed head gasket needed to be replaced. He did this and was paid. In doing this work-he also found issues with oil pump, which was also fixed by him and he was paid in full? Not 4 hours after I paid him $1400, my engine was clanking. I took it back, he had me park and cut engine. No one looked at my car. No one even opened the hood. The owner laughed at me and said I needed a new engine bc the crankshaft was bad. I took it to VW to have them diagnose it. They said they crankshaft was fine- it was 2 bent valves on the head that was making the noise. The head needed to be replaced. O explained what Dong Auto had done to my car-and they assured me that since this noise was brand new to after the work being done, and since they worked on the part of the car that was now broken- it was Dong Auto that bent these valves. I took it back to Doings as the owner assured me that they guarantee their work. He said he would check it and get back to me. 2 days later-with no contact from them and my car sitting in the exact same spot for those 2 days- I called them. He laughed and said that it was the bearings that were so bad that it shook the engine and caused the valves to bend. I said-this does not make sense and that it not what VW told me. He got upset- and said he was a mechanic too and that I could not bully him. I said- I paid you to fix my car and its worse now than when I brought it in. He said it was an old car (2000) and that sometimes it takes time for noises to work themselves out. He said he never touched the head, just the gasket. Which is funny because not a week prior he told my dad that he had removed the head and sent it to be cleaned. Not only that- but I have since learned that in order to replace the head gasket- you have to take the head OFF. He is NOT HONEST. I now have to take him to court over this. You will get a smaller bill- at first. But when your car can't be driven, and he's laughing at you telling you its your car your problem- you will wish you had gone elsewhere. JUST LIKE I DID. DO NOT GO HERE! SAVE YOUR CAR AND YOUR MONEY!
