Tree Removal

Stump Grinding and Removal
During the final stages of the tree removal process, the tree stump will be left cut as close to the ground as possible. Clients often want the stump to be removed, which we perform with a large diesel stump grinding machine. This is an optional service which will be included in a separate line item in your proposal.
Storm Damage Cleanup
To guarantee that your trees are pruned to the highest standards, we require that each of our employees be trained in proper pruning techniques and that they are knowledgeable in tree biology. The benefits of properly pruned trees include not only improved visual appeal, but increased safety and resistance to storm damage and better defenses against attack by pests and pathogens. Poorly conducted pruning can cause permanent damage, and can hasten the decline or death of a tree.
Tree Planting
Dave Leonard Tree Specialists's arborists provide our clients with the tree industryâ€™s best service, from diagnostic skills to proper tree pruning and proper tree planting, our clients get to work with an ISA International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist from initial consultation to job completion. We take pride in providing the most knowledgeable, honest, safe, and efficient service. Our team at Dave Leonard Tree Specialists consists of: Board Certified Master Arborist, ISA Certified Arborists, Certified Tree Risk Assessors, ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist.
Tree Transplanting
Liquid Injection System tools, including the X-HFL and the X-LTL, are an extension of the Air Knife family. These tools are specially designed for high air volume liquid injections of water, liquid fertilizer or compost tea into the soil. Rate of liquid volume dispensed is easily controlled by the operator. This line of tools is also ideal for use in dust control and bare root tree transplanting.

Preserving the trees of the Bluegrass is central to our company mission. The majority of our services - from tree pruning to pest management to soil improvement - all play a key role in preserving and enhancing the health of trees that are suffering from a variety of ailments. A few specific categories of work that we perform, however, are directly related to whether or not a tree is preserved, allowing it to be enjoyed by future generations.
Tree Fertilization
Deep root fertilization (also called liquid sub-surface fertilization) is a process that consists of injecting fertilizer directly into the soil for it to be absorbed by a tree's fibrous roots. Deep root fertilization prolongs your tree's life, promotes health, and provides preventative care. Our ISA-certified arborists use an organic-based fertilizer that is custom blended for the unique soils of the central bluegrass region that will provide all of the essential nutrients to the soil as well as a heavy dose of organic matter, in order to improve soil conditions and increase the fibrous rooting of your trees. This is key to promoting a healthy vigorous tree.

Tree Cabling and Bracing
Cabling and bracing is a method employed to extend tree life by improving the structural stability of a tree. In many cases some combination of cabling, bracing, and pruning makes an otherwise structurally defective tree safe enough to remain standing. Not every tree is a candidate for cabling and each tree will need to be evaluated to determine if cabling would be beneficial.
Arborist Services
The Supersonic Air Knife line of tools provides a complete solution for non-destructive excavation of buried objects. The suite of Air Knife tools includes the X-LT for low profile everyday jobs and diagnostic work, the X-ST2 for those arborists who like to use and abuse their tools, and the X-HFA designed for use on large or high volume jobs and heavily compacted soils.
Tree Mulching
For the contractor who really abuses their equipment. This stainless steel and brass gun can take abuse and still get the job done. Perfect for use as a rental tool or for frequent vertical mulching jobs. Requires a 185 CFM compressor which usually rents for about $100 a day.
