Clearwater Grill

First of all I want to say Thank You for allowing this review.

Before I order a steak, prime rib or BBQ Ribs in any restaurant I'll try the burger.

That said I have to say the food my wife and I had on Saturday 2/18/12 was lacking.



The Burgers we ordered were were overcooked, the thin sliced cheese was not melted. The bun was saturated with an oil and only the edges of the bun were browned. The burger itsself was cold, had no flavor and was dry.



I ordered mine "med-well" and it came past well done. Not to mention the bacon (one crumbled piece) was under the cheese leaving the dish Visually unappealing



The desserts, key lime pie and cheese cake, should be banned from service.

The Key Lime pie was served shallow with a meriange on top.

I lived in Miami I NEVER saw this rendition. The grahm cracker crumb crust was undercooked and saturated with oil.



The Cheese Cake was so airiated and had no cheese flavor at all. It melted on your tounge. I think what you want is a rich, creamy texture that sticks to the roof of your mouth.

Friday night is a blast where everyone knows everyone in this small area! Best local bar atmosphere without the rough crowd. Only down side is you better order two drinks because service is very slow and in some cases is much quicker to just go to the bar yourself.

I've been here before with my parents and grandparents...and I've always enjoyed myself as they have pretty good food (3 out of 5 stars) and normally terrific service. Anyways, I go there for the first time by myself and I sit at the bar to get a drink. A simple Jack and Coke...bartender asks me for my ID which is fine. I turn away to check out the TV and when I look back there is no drink and the bartender is gone. So I wait...and wait...and finally she comes back with the manager and I have to show her my ID. Alright, so I look a little young and this is Virginia and I have a New York state ID, so I was patient and understanding of the situation. Then the manager says, sorry your ID is too flimsy, it looks like a fake we can't serve you. At this point, I'm a little pissed but whatever, nothing I can do about it. I get a steak and shrimp combo which was decent (again 3 out of 5 stars, if I had that Jack and Coke it could have been 4 out of 5).



So this grill is pretty much the closest bar that I know of to where I'm staying without having to drive a good 20 minutes. So I ask the manager politely what I would need to show her, or what ID do I need in order for me to get a drink here. She mockingly replies that I would have to show her my birth certificate. At that point, I was pissed because she openly mocked and insulted me so I paid my bill with a crap tip because this has been the worst experience I've ever had to deal with in a restaurant. I would take long lines, incompetent waiters, and cold food over this. I was honestly embarrassed as other people were at the bar while this was going on and obviously overheard everything. Clearly...Virginia is not south enough for southern hospitality to kick in, they need to take some notes from Georgia.



Oh for the record, it wasn't a fake. I'm 23 who just graduated from college in Georgia after growing up New York (hence the ID) and currently working an internship here in Virginia.



I will definitely not eat there again.
