Athenian Diner Restaurant

Great food . Great service. Great menu. Great staff. Very friendly atmosphere. always love going to Athenian!

My household, along with most of Middletown, lost power during hurricane Irene. The Athenian diner us not far too far from our house and we called to see if it was open. It was and they said it was not too busy. We got there shortly after and not surprisingly the place was packed! They sat us down and we had an awful waitress. She seemed very upset to be at work and felt no need to even refill our drinks. My dad even asked for a refill of coffee, and after seeing her standing around for 5 minutes asked if she remembered. She said, "I know". We were not impressed and she left us waiting for our check about 20 min. All the while, we could see her leaning on the counter and not working! Since I was there with my husband and my parents, we wanted to do separate checks but didn't want to ask our crabby waitress so we asked the lady at the front desk, who you pay. I also asked if I could add a slice of baklava to my ticket and she looked at me with a strait face and said, "you're asking too much of me." then she went in to complain to all of us how the night shift had called in, they were so busy, and how "annoying" it is that people keep calling to see if their open!! Almost our whole town is out of power and she wants to complain to us! Let me just say, an average meal is not worth all that drama, in my opinion.
