Overall

I've been taking all of my Auto work to Rob's for years. Personal & Business vehicles, He does a Great job and very Experienced with all types of Vehicles, Car's to Semi's.. He is the Type of guy that would tell you the truth even if you don't really want to hear it. As for the the guy that posted the only bad review " I take it you must of not like what he told you" I was the one that recommended you to call Rob's and buy the Motor. I was there when you paid Rob. He sold you that very cheap. You took it to a machine shop "which is a friend of mine also"..(not Marine Mechanic) He builds HP motors yes. Rob was up front with you about the motor. You wanted the high performance Cam that he had for that motor, So he sold it to you for a cheap price. That same Cam is in a another friends boat down at the lake. Quote (You asked for a Block).. By the way Rob has never had a couch in his business. He has a place for customers to sit down while getting their cars worked on. Yes he does have magazine and was probably reading it after he took his lunch (Like Normal). By the way welcome to Boating. A person tries to help a friend out and this is the type of thing that happens. Nice..

This company does not operate with an ounce of honesty, integrity or rationalization. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND that anyone ever use this company's services!

Rob told me that the Chevy Big Block that I was purchasing from him had the block and heads rebuilt about 400-500 miles ago, and that the engine seized up from Vapor Lock caused by a leaking gasket (or something very similar to that). After hearing that I was going to use the the purchased part(s) to rebuild a marine motor, he informed me that he had a Camshaft that would be great for a marine application, he even recommended what intake manifold and carburator I should use for the best performance in my BOAT ENGINE. After taking my new-found equipment to the Marine-Mechanic who is building my new engine for me, I was informed of a few reasons why Rob from Rob's Autoworks (or Hillside Auto) had mis-informed me

1. The engine that he sold me had several thousands of miles on it, not a few hundred.

2. The engine was seized up due to poor oil circulation which caused at least three of the Crankshaft bearings to melt and lock up the crankshaft.

3. The additional Camshaft that he insisted would work has absolutely ZERO application within any type of a marine 7.4L/454 engine.

I realized that the problems within the engine are my responsibility and I accept all liability despite being blatantly lied to. Since I was purchasing a used motor to essentially use for parts, I am not upset about the status of the motor.

I returned to his place of employment to return the new (never taken out of the box) camshaft that he assured me would work in a marine application However, the camshaft absolutely will not work in a marine 454. As I entered the shop, Rob remained sitting on his couch with his feet propped up on a table while reading some type of magazine and made no attempt acknowledge my presence, despite me standing directly in front of him. I explained that the camshaft that he sold me can not be used in my marine engine that I am having built. Very dismissively, and without moving a muscle from his "relaxed" position, he says that he has no use for it either, and that is why he sold it to me, because he couldn't use it.

This company does not operate with an ounce of honesty, integrity or rationalization. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND that anyone ever use this company's services!
