Our family tradition every Christmas Eve is to go for Chinese food. Jade China became our traditional place just by chance. Three years ago when we first moved to the Menifee area we found them by following my phone. The food was not note worthy, the portions are small, but it was fun to get our annual photo eating there once a year for the last three years. We will not be going back however. Christmas eve of 2016 when we arrive and tried to take our usual spot the waitress rebuked us, and said that we could not sit there because our party was too big...at a table for six...we are a party of five. She pointed us to a table, and took our drink order. However, shortly after bringing our drinks she asked us to move so that she could seat another party at the table she demanded that we take. She then seated us at the table we initially wanted.
Now, let me skip ahead and say that the food was still meh, the portions seem to be smaller. The asparagus and shrimp we ordered off the specials menu was gross because the asparagus was dollar store produce quality and was not prepared correctly...cut the dry tough ends off! But the main reason we will not be returning is because the waitress attempted to steal my phone!!!
Right after we ordered my phone disappeared from the table. One minute it was there, then poof it was gone. My son crawled under the table, we checked the cushion cracks. Even though I knew I had just had it, we bothered the people at the table we were first seated at. They were even kind enough to call my phone for me. My daughter was admit she had seen it by the menus before the waitress picked them up. I went to the counter and ask the waitress she was flippant. Even thought I knew I had it at the table my spouse and I went out to the car to check. While outside I told my hubby that I felt like the waitress just stole my phone. We went back in and I sat down, my hubby went to the counter and asked that they please check the menus. Again the waitress told him that she hadn't seen it. My hubby sat down and kept asking me what I wanted to do. I believe they thought we were on the verge of calling the police.
All of a sudden the waitress came rushing over with my phone. Pointing she ask me if I knew the man across the restaurant. She said that he had my phone. I do not know how... I was never on that side of the establishment, and the gentleman was never on the side we were seated at. The waitress then said, "I told you I didn't steal it". Umm no, she never said that. She was admit that she "hadn't SEEN my phone"...and I never accused her within ear shot of any of the employees. When I approached the gentleman in question and asked him if I could pay for his beer since he found my phone, he had no idea what I was talking about.
We ate our crappy food, paid, and left for the last time. There are many other places to get Chinese food of higher quality, bigger portions, in a better atmosphere. But if you choose to eat here, watch your belongings.
