Whatever your fitness level you can improve your health through physical activity. Starting is the first step no matter how small. As the activity becomes a part of your regular routine it should gradually become easier. Then you can start to incrementally increase your activity to the level you want to be at to increase your weight loss goals, improve body toning, maintain your weight, whatever your goals may be. If you need a place to start here are some suggestions. If you have a step tracker try to reach 5,000 steps a day for the first week. The second week try for 6,000 steps. Gradually increase those steps, you can do so by taking 5 minute breaks throughout your day to get a few steps in. Go on a 20 to 30 minute walk before or after work. Park your car farther away from the door to your work or when you go grocery shopping. Another suggestion is to perform planks. Planks are a great exercise to help with core strengthening. Start with holding a plank for 30 seconds. Once you have mastered 30 seconds try 45 and incrementally go up by 15 seconds. To really jumpstart your fitness you can combine the step and plank challenge. These are only a couple ideas to get you started.

You may be wondering, how can you be adjusted? We have a variety of ways to adjust people. The first being manually by hand, this one is normally a technique people think about when talking about chiropractic, the snap, crackle, pop method. We also have tables in which different segments can pop up and will release when an adjustment is given, thus giving a more cushioned adjustment. This method is one where there is no twisting, a motion that can aggravate certain conditions. Another technique we can utilize is something called an Activator. It is a tool that gives a very precise adjustment with a lower amount of force. This tool can be used on anyone, from a baby, someone who is wary of a manual neck adjustment, or an older person with low bone mineral density. Along with the adjustment we also have different modalities we can utilize to supplement the adjustment. We have electric stimulation which sends impulses to muscles making them twitch or feel a vibrating sensation causing the muscles to relax and bring blood flow to the area for healing. We also have therapeutic ultrasound, where sound waves are sent into the tissue to provide micro-massage, again helping bring blood to the area to help increase the healing process. We can also provide patients with stretches and exercises that can be done at home to help with spine stability and provide relief during the day if they are experiencing muscle tension.
