Out of this world cupcakes!

By far the most beautiful coffee/dessert shop I have ever visited. I frequent Sucre' and always try something new; I have never been disappointed. You have to try their filled-cupcakes. The vanilla cupcake with strawberry filling is "out of this world"!

LET 'EM EAT (the) CAKE, BUT PASS ON THE CHOCOLATESDuring a visit to New Orleans (12-2007), a favorite destination, I took a break from my low carb diet to try Sucre of New Orleans. The Dec. issue of "Where" magazine touted Sucre' as one of 2007's new culinary stars. Based on the review, sounds potentially extraordinary. My dining journal entry on this place was about 4 pages, I have little space here. The down 'n dirty: Unless the key players in Sucre's kitchen have improved since Dec. of 2007, the chocolate candies are NOT WORTH the upwards of about $50.00 per pound. Yes, they taste good, but I was sorely disappointed. The sicilian pistachio, blange & magnolia were the preferred of the 9 different chocolates I tried. Not worth the $30+ dollars total I spent.DO spend the $4-6 on one of their petit pastries. The Exotica is a tear shaped cake w/banana dacoise, lilikoi & mango.Atmosphere is pleasant, staff friendly and lots of potential, But needs LOTS of work.
