Brakes 4 Less

Slow and sneaky. I was there for the $199.95 job or even the $249.95 job if needed. There was only 1 other customer there but it took a long time for them to have my vehicle on the lift and then they called me to it to show me what was wrong. They told me it needed more and that would be an extra $240. And they said that the total of $490 was at an extremely discounted price for me. It took 5 HOURS with only 1 other customer there to do my brake job. When we got it home, it wasn't right. It wasn't braking strong enough to feel safe enough to drive it back down the interstate to them so we took the vehicle to a much closer (down the street) locally-owned and highly-regarded tires & brakes business. They had to bleed the front lines and turn the back wheels "15 - 20 times" to make the back pads come close to making braking contact. That following weekend we took it back to tell them and show them the vehicle and the paperwork from the other shop. They weren't nice about it and it got heated. So then one of us went to the parking lot, called the store, told them the exact same vehicle make, model, year, and necessary parts to do the job. Since it was a man on the phone and not a woman, they quoted a price of about $300... a far cry from the $490 we were charged when the woman took it for the actual work. They basically took advantage of things with a woman who didn't know much about what they recommended. After several calls around town to get a quote on the exact same parts and service as we were charged $490 to do, the highest quote we got was about $300. We asked them to make this situation right and they told us they wouldn't. Sure, they were nice to the woman who took the vehicle for the services, but they also slammed her for another $190 over anyone else--even their own price quoted to a man over the phone! That's shady and wrong. If you use this place, make sure a man who knows what is happening is the one who takes it to be fixed.

I went to Brakes For Less to get a quote. I was there for about 2 hours and I got the quote and made the decision to come back at a later date to get my brakes fixed but my mind quickly changed after I got my car back. My hubcaps that I've had for close to a year were broken and had to be put back on with a temporary clip. I've never had a problem with my hubcaps before until today. They were always secure! Brian told me that the clip had broken off and he didn't know why or how but gave me another on for the hubcap I thought it was fixed. As I drove home both front hubcaps disappeared. I didn't even get home. I called Brian then I came back to the store because I was upset and I asked him what was he going to do. There was no problem until after I left the shop. He told me the hubcaps were broken when they took them off..how is that possible when they were still secure when I first arrived? He told me there was nothing they could do and I thought that was not fair being that I was a potential customer and this place caused damage to my car and wouldn't admit it. My hubcaps were just fine before I got there and afterwards they were not secure and I lost two of them and didn't even get a true apology or anything. I wouldn't recommend going there because if they cause damage they won't admit it or they'll say your car came like that and they won't do anything about it as far as customer satisfaction is concerned.

I was the only customer at the time, I let them know I was in a rush, and they finished a half hour later than their worst-case scenario. There is nothing more frustrating than looking at your car in the shop, and seeing nobody working on it. Three workers at the shop doing anything but putting brakes on the car. PLUS, I went in being told it was $88, then was told it was $139, then was rung up as $169! The most frustrating thing is their obviously ambivalent attitude. Now I think someone else will need to look at my brakes because they now feel like they aren't working right.

Good place, decently priced. I'll return.

The service was outstanding. I was told I needed new brakes at another place and my brakes did sound squeaky. They checked out the car for free, and he told me I did not need the front ones, just the back, and it was only about $90! Awesome price.

Brian is an extremely professional, honest, and kind mechanic. We've been bringing our cars to him and his guys for the last few years and every time has been as pain-free as you could possibly be at an auto repair shop.



The prices are fair, they are extremely thorough, and they goes the extra mile by making sure that you don't pay for repairs you don't need. We thought that we had to get new brake pads and he told us it was only brake dust and we had plenty of life left in our current ones... anybody else would have probably charged for the new pads and laughed all the way to the bank, but not Brian!



Great shop. Highly recommended!

when another shop had redone my brakes and less than a day later they were squealing again, and they refused to back their work and refund it, i decided to take my little camry to brakes 4 less. the manager brian was great to work with and seemed sympathetic to the issue. the guys there fixed what the other shop had done wrong and charged me next to nothing to do it. the squealing is gone and i feel better knowing somebody else fixed the problem. next time i know where to go in the 1st place.

this is for the location on sam rittenberg in charleston. i'm happy with the outcome of taking my truck here.dudes were nice...everything seems to be in order and working well...best part was the price.

WOW. prices here were WAAAAAY less than anywhere else and quality seems to be very on par with everywhere else.
