Overall
Sports Car Woes!!!

The car was shutting off during driving, not starting after being driven, or not starting at all. I flatbedded the car to the dealership. AutoPalace is an authorized Porsche dealer and I have an older Porsche 1987 911, so that is why I choose them. The car showed up and they had a scheduled time to fix the car. I had to leave it there for several weeks. I called on the day they were finally suppose to work on the car and they said they were still back logged. I called back every day and it took them 3-4 more days to finally get to my car.

They worked on the car for several hours and said it was the battery. I had been on line in the mean time on a Porsche web site and everyone said it was not the issue and not to take it to a dealer. I trusted them that they fixed the issue and scheduled a time to pick up the car. The car was picked up and was being driven home, when the car started to do the exact same thing that it was doing before. The car broke down in a bad part of the city and I had my 2 year old son with me.

The next day I called and left a message, because they had 4+ hours to work on the car that day. I called and left the Service Manager a message at 9am in the morning. I had to call her back at 12 noon and leave another message. I then had to call the General Manager, who was out of town. I could not get anyone on the phone to tell me what was happening. I finally go the Service Manager on the phone and she said it was 3 sensors. The 87 Porsche 911 non turbo has 3 sensors on the top of the engine right in your face, easy to replace, they told me it was those three sensors all at the same time. I called a place I interviewed to fix my car and they said do not get it fixed, it was most certainly not that and they are guessing. I immediately called back and said I was going to flat bed the car home. I had to wait 2 more hours at the dealership to get my car.

The car was taken to a specialty service shop. They fit me into they schedule within a couple days. They worked on the car the day they said and the next day the car was fixed.

The shop that fixed my car explained in detail what happened when they fixed the car and none of it was the three sensors that the Service Manager at Auto Palace and the Authorized Porsche Specialist said were broken. I had the car pre inspected at Auto Palace when I bought it a year ago and they completely missed this issue. I contacted the General Manager to bring these things to his attention, because I would have negotiated with the previous owner to get these things fixed prior to the purchase. The General Manager said it was not their fault and they can only check certain things during pre inspection (he mentioned muffler, brakes, and a couple other exposed and easy things.) I was told on the pre inspection that everything would be checked and I would feel deeply secure about driving the car away with no issues. The General Manager said they were not going to help cover any of the bill. The thing he said that was shocking was "We have the CREAM OF THE CROP at my Dealership". The cream of the crop could not do a proper pre inspection, had me leave the dealership without fixing my car right, had me break down in a scary place with my 2 year old, told me they could fix it with things that were not even close to the problem, and did not thing to make things right in the end.
