Mr. Thomas is also experienced in litigating cases of fraud. He develops strategies that address fraud investigations with Sedgwick’s claims management services and a special investigation unit. He uses discovery methods to investigate WC insurance fraud cases. Cases that Mr. Thomas has tried have resulted in recovery for the client. They have also included criminal trials when necessary.

Workers Compensation
Through the many changes in the law dating as far back as 1975, with many “reforms,” some of which were helpful to the defense industry, he has remained up to date and prepared to defend the clients of the firm. As a member of the firm, he authored the publication, Special Workers Compensation Problems, and Benefits for School Districts in 1986, which updated and reissued in 1992, much of which remains valuable to the present, as long as code section numbering changes are considered.

Once a part of the KT&T law firm, Mr. Corngold’s areas of expertise had expanded and now revolve around workers compensation litigation, as well as employment litigation and Labor Code Section 132a claims. Mr. Corngold is also well versed in other areas of employment law such as discrimination claims and Serious & Willful misconduct matters.

Mr. von Leden began his legal career at the Law Offices of Hamrick and Locke. While he was an associate there, he focused on personal injury matters. He also worked for clients in defense of construction defect and property damage cases and handled personal injury cases for individuals.

Jon E. von Leden is a vital member of the Kegel, Tobin & Truce team. He has been a part of the firm since 1980 and became a shareholder in 1989. With years of work in personal injury defense, Mr. von Leden is in charge of the personal injury defense and subrogation department for the firm.

As a young attorney I started my workers’ compensation career with a solo practitioner who I have kept a great relationship with throughout the years. I am a Certified Specialist in workers’ compensation and now have over 20 years of experience. Where has the time gone? I have practiced in medical malpractice defense, toxic torts, and premises liability during my career. However, I have always returned to workers’ compensation defense which I know is where I belong. I also defend related matters concerning Labor Code §132a and Serious and Willful allegations.
