BUYER BEWARE!!!

We saw an ad online for a car, called Ted and he quoted $5200.00 as the cash price. I did my homework on the car and kbb listed the cars value around price I was quoted so I went for a test drive. The car was making a weird noise so I asked Ted what kind of service they had performed on the car. He said that he hadn't done any service. He just bought it at a dealer auction and put it up for sale. I asked to see the carfax which Ted gave to me right away. The car had been in an accident and the airbags deployed. Furthermore, the carfax didnt have any maintenance records. I told Ted that I would like to have a mechanic take a look at it to make sure the damage from the accident had been repaired correctly and to see what work needed to be done. He said that it would be no problem to take it off site to my mechanic. I returned the next day, picked up the car and took it to the dealership. I got a list of maintenance issues that needed to be addressed and they pointed out a leak into the back of the car possibly caused by the collision. I brought the report back to Teds auto and gave it to his wife because Ted was not there. Ted called me the next day and said he would make all the repairs if I was still interested. I told him I would buy the car if all repairs were completed. I drove to Teds auto corp when I got off of work so that I could get a list of repairs he was going to complete and to leave a deposit on the car. Everything was going well with the contract until he told his wife that the price was now $6200.00!!!

I told Ted I would not have come to see the car at that price. The listed value Is only $5000.00!

Ted said"ok no problem, I sell to someone else"

It is a problem! That's 3 days wasted driving to his lot and $180.00 blown to have a mechanic do an inspection.

Bottom line- this is a shady business. They don't even inspect the cars before they sell them. Don't trust Ted- he sells bad cars at outrageous prices.

2nd update (same anonymous poster again) - After owning a car from Ted's Auto for several months, I definitely agree with the reviewer who suggested to inspect the car thoroughly before buying. I've had TONS of problems with the car. The battery had a dead cell in it and had to get a new battery, the electrical harnesses controlling the locks on the doors had to be replaced because the door locks would not work properly, the alternator went out and had to be replaced, the ENTIRE gas tank and all parts associated with it had to be replaced because of severe difficulty refueling that eventually could also lead to the car not working anymore, and now the windows don't even roll down. Of course Ted and his associates working there at Ted's Auto do their best to hide anything wrong with the car and will charge a lower price than most places selling used cars, but still MUCH more than the junk they're selling is actually worth. Also, he claims that if anything is wrong with the car within the first 1-3 months, he will fix it for free. Sounds good right? Yeah except for the fact that they can't and won't fix crap. EG: instead of fixing problems with the radio, they changed the channel to the only station that would work that only works in that one area, then turns it on when you come to pick up the car and says, "look. The radio sounds great!". Then if you drive around to test the car, they will not be there when you get back or answer any calls about it.

DO NOT GO HERE TO BUY A CAR UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF.

btw, I really wish this site would allow me to update the same review for a more accurate description.

I am the customer who wrote the last review and complained about Ted Yu and his business being dishonest because of the issue with the gas gauge and radio. I'm writing this review because now that I've had more time to inspect the radio, it seems like it is better than it was and he has improved it like he said. Actually, all I asked him to fix was the gas gauge, but from what I understood from him, he made an attempt to fix both free of charge. The gas gauge is indeed still broken, but I since he seems to have improved the radio, he might not be as dishonest as I thought initially. It is possible that he does not realize the gas gauge still does not work, but I am unsure about this because I have not asked him yet.

Anyways, since it seems like he at least fixed the radio and I was mistaken with my initial hasty observation of the function of the radio after I picked up the car. Considering this, I feel obliged to update and re-rate this company with a more accurate description of the results of his promised services.

Do not buy from Ted Yu or his partner. They do not deserve your business because they are very dishonest and will lie about the condition of your car.

I recently purchased a car from Ted's Auto. They told me if there was anything wrong with the car I needed fixed, they would fix it free of labor charge within the first 30 days for only the cost of the part. After I bought the car, it was obvious something was wrong with the gas gauge. They told me they would order the part needed and fix it and the bring in the car on Friday. I brought it in on Friday and later that day they called and said it was ready to be picked up. As soon as i drove off the lot, it was obvious they did nothing to fix the gas gauge. I tried to call them back and tell them it still was not working, but they would not answer. They also lied twice about the functionality of the radio.

DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THESE TED YU SAYS
