With extensive knowledge of working canines comes a staff that is very knowledgeable in canine behavior. Rocky Point Animal Hospital is an expert in treating and working with aggressive dogs, ranging from dominance aggression to fear aggression. Many times patients who have always required sedation for nail trims, ear cleaning, exams, etc. come to us for care utilizing operant conditioning and positive reinforcement techniques. Very rarely is sedation needed! Please call us if you are in needed of behavioral consulting, or have a unique pet that is not typically accepting of conventional veterinary care. We can help!

Cindy and her husband live in Wilmington with their son and dogs, Layla & Brooklyn. Her special interests include surgery, anesthesia, and ECG interpretation. She is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Veterinary Technicians and currently serves as its President-Elect.

In 2012, Dr. Joni founded Cape Fear Raptor Center to service the Southeastern region of NC's raptor population. Cape Fear Raptor Center has become a nationally recognized Rehabilitation Center, with notoriety in Bald Eagle rehabilitation and training. Raptors from the entire coast extending to the borders of VA and SC and westward to Fayetteville are brought to CFRC for advanced medical and surgical care. She works closely with local and regional rehabilitators to provide care for raptors, waterfowl, songbird, opossums, and other wildlife that need veterinary specific care. She also lectures on raptor medicine and surgery, avian biosecurity, and operant conditioning and positive reinforcement training techniques in Eagles and Osprey at veterinary conferences.

Boarding
We offer separate cat & dog boarding for your furry family member when you are away or during recovery from an illness or injury. Our dog area is comprised of 6 indoor 4 x 6 runs and 15 kennel in a variety of sizes to keep your pet safe. We also have 6 outdoor, covered 4 x 6 runs to allow your dog some outside time as well. Dogs are leash walked in our fenced in yard four times a day. Our separate cat boarding is the cat's meow! Comprised of 8 kitty condos that allow cats that want to board together to move freely side by side or above/below in the kennels with their family members, or closed up where they can have privacy. All enclosures have a shelf for them to "get away" as well. The cat room is completely enclosed with numerous windows and shelves for them to relax in. We also offer a variety of options for your pet while staying with us - including playtime and departure bathes!
Grooming
We also offer limited grooming services ONLY for patients that are anxious or aggressive and REQUIRE SEDATION for a comfortable experience. In order to have sedation, a current Physical Exam will be needed with one of our Veterinarians to ensure your pet is healthy enough for sedation.
