I recently moved from California and was fortunate to be accepted by Dr Shah at Utah Pain Specialists.
The doctor is very professional and caring.
Procedures there were comfortable and patient comfort is a priority. I Am very fortunate to be treated there for end stage shoulder disease as well as headaches due to cervical stenosis.

Dr. Matsumura is a native Utahn. Dr. Matsumura completed four years of undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, two years of study at the University Of Utah College Of Pharmacy. Dr Matsumura was accepted to the University Of Utah School Of Medicine without an Undergraduate Degree. He completed four years of Medical School at the University of Utah. He also completed a one-year internship with the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah. He began Anesthesia Residency at Stanford University in 1994. After graduating at the top of the class, Dr. Matsumura completed a Pain Management Fellowship with Honors in 1998. Dr. Matsumura is Board Certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has Subspecialty Board Certification in Pain Medicine with the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. In 1998, Dr. Matsumura began practice in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at St. Mark's Hospital. Dr. Matsumura was appointed to Medical Director for Pain Management at St. Mark’s Hospital and served for 8 years prior to Utah Pain Specialists. Utah Pain Specialists was established in 2006 where he has served as CEO and partner in the Medical Practice.

Dr. Rajiv Shah came to the USA in 1998 for the further pursuance of his medical career. As a kid, he was inspired to go in the medical field by his father who is a renowned Gynecologist in India. He moved to Utah in 2003 with his wife for her fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Utah.

My husband slipped on the ice and had multiple fractures in his left ankle. It was a very painful thing. In the course of this we found a wonderful pain doctor. He is absolutely the best. He used to be at the St. Marks Hospital pain clinic. He is one of the best pain doctors. He is wonderful. He has taken marvelous care of my husband and me. He has given us all kinds of pain help. I would have never survived my knee replacement if it hadn’t been for him. Dr. Kyle asked me to get a brace and he told me where to go. I went to one of the best place that is made. I wore ankle braces on both ankles and now I can get around. Otherwise I would have been in a wheel chair in a nursing home. He has been wonderful. He got my husband a pain stimulator and planted it into his back because there was so much scar tissue on his back from back surgery and cortisone shots that there wasn’t any other way to treat the pain. He was so good that Hill Air Force Base approached him and asked whether he would handle all their retirees. Many people come from other parts of the country to him.
