Extreme Towing

I'm guessing that this place makes a big chunk of revenue from the local Safeway. I was at the Valley Fair mall doing my Christmas shopping and parked next to Macy's. When I returned a few hours later my car was gone and my only clue to its whereabouts was an askew sign at the end of the row of parking spaces stating that I had parked in a 1 hour parking zone for Safeway customers only. There was no number to call on the sign, but after noticing several "Extreme Tow" trucks circling the parking lot, I caught on.



Now I'm more than willing to pay for an honest mistake like this one, but am truly disgusted with the contract this company has with Safeway. Not only do they charge double their normal towing fee to take your car from the Safeway parking lot to their building down the street, but I also had to pay an extra $80 as a gate fee to get my car back. While the door was painted clearly with hours of operation until 9 pm, 7 days a week, I was told that the "office" is not open on Saturday or Sunday and I would have to pay the extra fee for getting my car released. Of course there was an employee in the office helping other angry mall patrons and more than one tow truck driver inside the building. On top of that I got to deal with a snarky employee who expected me to feel sorry for him for having to deal with a constant flow of angry and upset people all day.



While I'm equally upset with the Safeway manager who was continuously calling for more tow trucks while I was in the office paying to get my car back, I still think this towing company is despicable for charging exhorbitant fees from its unwilling customers. I felt like my car was being held for ransom and am shocked and appalled that they are preying on unsuspecting Christmas shoppers to make a buck.



Please avoid using this towing company if you can help it. They are taking advantage of people who have very little recourse for complaint or reimbursement.
