They were quick and professional with sending USPS trackable packages. I am happy that this type of service is still available.

My package has been sitting at the Sandston, VA post office since 2/4. I cant get ahold of anyone! Even the direct number the guy gave below wont answer. I want my package! It's for my wedding and I am going to file a complaint if it isnt delivered by the end of the day today. I dont understand why they cant answer the phone.

EDIT*- The problem isnt the Sandston VA post office per say, it is the sorting facility. They gave me a direct number 804-775-6313, but I am currently letting the phone ring and ring, but no answer. According to the guy I just talked to, this facility took on alot when it opened, and is backed up. Not that that is an excuse, but atleast its a reason!
EDIT*- Got ahold of someone who took my package number and is going to let someone know I am looking for my package. This has been a PROCESS to say the least, but I am happy I finally got ahold of someone. Fingers crossed I get my package!

BEWAREEEEEEEEEEE - READ AND BE INFORMED OF THIS CRAPPY PLACE

I recently bought two very expensive packages. Both passed through this post office. BOTH WERE TAMPERED WITH, BOTH WERE MISSING EXPENSIVE ITEMS! The first $1000 package was opened and they cut opened the item inside and slipped out $100 worth of items, thinking that i wouldnt notice. They then retaped the box with priority mail tape OVER the original clear tape that surrounded the whole package!!. I was nice enough to let it go.

But then the second time came.. A week later i ordered a $250 item. It was shipped with priority 1 day mail but it got stuck in this dump for an extra week!!!! who know what happened with my package during this period. There were supposed to be three items in the package. The thief stole two of them and retaped the package. the seller said he didnt even tape the priority flat rate box!

If your mail goes through this post office expect long delays and potential to lose your stuff!! They must go through even large box to check if there is anything to steal. BEWARE

Is this post office owned by John Gotti? I sent a letter along with some crucial evidence of banking fraud to USAA via certified mail on May 15, 2019 from Richmond, Virginia and, according to the tracking information, it has been stuck in Sandston, Virginia since then. Today's date is June 3, 2019. Ba da bing! I'm guessing John Gotti handled this matter? What a racket! I'm guessing that my letter to USAA along with crucial, original evidence of banking fraud disappeared up the butt of a postal employee? Now I must re-send.

Sent a certified package from NC on May 9. Just checked tracking and it says the same thing as others have said: In transit as of May 11 at the Sandston Post Office. It was supposed to be delivered May 12 and it's May 17 with no further tracking.

My package has been stuck at this facility since Jan 23rd. After reading reviews, I don't feel any better. I have contacted USPS headquarters and requested an audit and investigation be opened up on this facility. UPDATE: I have submitted these reviews and a summarized story to the local NBC 12 news station and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully they will be able to shine some light and expose this horrible postal facility. Semper Fi

I mailed a document from Newport News Va to MI certified mail on 2/10/17 it arrived in Sandston same evening. I got a message it was departing and would arrive on the 13th it did not then received message it would be delivered on 14th it has not...where is it all I get now is that it is delayed but in transit. Lord help me in could have drove it there myself.

I got nervous when I saw all the negative reports as well as the NBC News report. But thank goodness the USPS tracking site just showed my package arriving in Fredericksburg, VA from Sandston. Hallelujah!

My package was sent from Philadelphia to Sandston on its way to the Charlottesville area, but instead of heading west they sent it to Norfolk who sent it back to Sanston. Where will it go next? The USPS Tracking site said it won't arrive on time. Still waiting.

If you are unlucky, this is where your package ends up. It's a black hole of the Post Office!
Fire every employee and start over!

Sandston, Virginia Post Office, pitstop to the black hole of nothingness, where your mail may get eaten by the Abominable Postalopagus! Don't try to call them because you need hours to do so and your calls will no doubt end up in the twighlight zone just as your mail has. Still waiting for two "lost in transit" jewelry items. What are the odds of that for one customer! Needs to be a serious investigation and reorganization there! I rate them a -2 not one star.

Hello! What's happen with my parcel??!! My parcel is from October 5, 2016 , 9:40 am at SANDSTON, VA 23150 already 11 days!!!
I send package with Express Mail International, parcel EL171126611US. Is somebody answer at my question!!!??? My cel is: 540-287-3213

I've also had numerous packages delayed at this and practically every other USPS facility.
Why are you people complaining about this sorting facility?
After all, YOU elected the government officials who allowed this branch of the US Government to unionize.
Same thing with the Veterans Administration. It used to be excellent, until it was unionized in the early 70's to mid-80's.
You people let this happen so why complain now?

I had faith in the USPS at one time, no more. I have been waiting for a pkg from Groton, MA, since it was shipped on 03/15/16. My zip is 23696, pkg finally arrived at 23606, (Newport News) yesterday, AND LAST NIGHT THEY SENT IT TO SANDSTON, VA 23150!!! 63 miles from Newport News which is only 15.5 miles from where I live!!! WTH IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I WANT MY PKG, TODAY (03/26/16) !!! PLEASE? Sorry for yelling but I am very angry with this miss handling of US mail. Thank You

If I could rate this post office in the negative I would. This place continues to send packages clearly marked to come to Goshen , Va. elsewhere. Please get some competent people to work there. This place sucks!

My letter has been in transit to destination for three days, but the destination is only less than 80 miles away from this Sandston facility. After reading all the reviews, I'm pretty sure now that my letter won't get delivered on time. I would never use USPS to send anything important again.

A package from Columbus Oh ordered after Jan 30 has arrived in a couple days to SC, yet a package from Sandston, VA has been sitting at this post office since Mon. Feb. 1 with no further tracking actions? I hope I get my item..worried after reading over 30 bad reviews on this post office, wonder if there is some postal headquarters office that can investigate this post office.

These people need too be fired they are disrespectful they can't get nothing rite no phone answer when do they hang up and scream won't amswer back FIRE THEM PLEASE

Can someone at this facility please explain why a package addressed to Henrico, Virginia 23238 was sent from this Sandston location to Chicago? The Sandston location is in Henrico County and the package was sent to Chicago. How does that make any sense whatsoever? Who is running this facility? Is there ANY accountability at all? Does the Greater Richmond Metro Area have a Post Master? Where is he/she and how can you reach this person? Worst on-line service, worst telephone customer service, worst processing facility... can I rate them a zero?

Ordered a package from Amazon over a week ago. It was scanned as having left the Sandston plant on the 30th, but I suspect it never left this place. I'll now be taking this up with Amazon since they seem more likely to give me a refund or replacement than the USPS admitting fault.
