If Dr Frankenstein’s lab was redone as a restaurant/nightclub, it might look like this. Heavy faux-rock walls, timbered ceiling, dark corners and amber-lit chandeliers. The volume of music on the sound system isn’t too blaring, so it doesn’t interfere with conversation. I love it, especially just before Halloween. The food is supposed to be Belgian, which most Americans don’t even realize exists. (BTW, French Fries aren’t French, they’re Belgian). The service was excellent, as I was immediately greeted and my food came out fast and piping hot. In addition to the dipping sauce for my fries, my waitress grabbed me a jar of ketchup, so I had a choice of what to dip into. In Belgium, fries are served with mayonnaise, not ketchup, so my choice for sauce was aioli. It was made in-house with real eggs, not oil. Very tasty. While the food is good, the standout is the selection of taps. I tried something called “Hobgoblin”, followed by a Double Chocolate Stout, both from England. I didn’t realize I was there during their “Power Hour”, when everything is cheaper, and I got away for about $15, including a medium plate of freshly made Belgian Fries and the tip. I’m planning on going back for the Spinach Salad with red onion, gorgonzola cheese crumbles and mustard vinaigrette.
