General Info
I have over seven years of extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, mental health issues and crisis intervention. Specialties Include: Counseling survivors of Domestic Violence LGBTQ life and identity Depression and Anxiety Traumatic Loss and Grief Parenting Healing from emotional, physical and sexual abuse Relationship Issues Family of Origin IssuesMy Approach: My approach is humanistic, with a strong focus on exploring the effects of oppression and how racism, sexism, homophobia, bi-phobia, transphobia, ageism, etc. affects each individual’s mental health and identity. I work from a foundation of compassion with the intent to give you a safe place to explore yourself that is free from judgment, oppression and harmful messages. I will look at several aspects of a your life that may be affecting the issues you may be bringing into therapy, such as the relationship between gender, social, cultural influences and oppression, in order to understand each individuals unique experience. We will work together look at all these aspects when deciding what treatment approach best suits your individual needs. I Believe: There is nothing wrong with you. Each person is uniquely equipped with the potential and resources necessary to heal and grow, so they may be able to fully experience their lives. I believe we have all been hurt in some way and both past and present hurts may have hindered our potential and tendency towards growth. This can be compromised by the problems we face, including oppression, abuse, emotional pain from early childhood experiences and adulthood. Therapy is a collaborative process and it is my role to help you explore the barriers and challenges you experience, so you may develop your natural capacity to live a deeper and more fulfilling life.
