South Smiths Station Elementary School

This is where MY children attend currently. Education system, curriculum, activities, teachers & faculty are absolutely dedicated to the childrens needs..

My son was previously enrolled in Phenix City school systems and they flat out told me that he was incapable of retaining any information. They suggested that either I have him evaluated by a doctor and put on meds or that they were going to have to put him in learning disability classes. I was distraught with this news because I new that he could "retain information" just fine when we did his homework in the evenings. So I didn't have him evaluated and I was absoutly not going to let them label my son at the age of 7 as being retarded or disabled just because I refused to put him on medication. Mind you these are meds that we as adults could get high on, (controled substances). So that is when I turned to the Smiths Station school system. My son and I went up there and I told them all the problems that we had had with the previous school. The staff at Smiths took my son, evaluated him and put him in the corresponding classes (witch were no were near "special classes") and he sored. He is 10 now and has brought home A's & B's every year. Also he never has anything bad to say about the school. So my hat is off to the people that work there. It is the entire organization as a whole. They are absoutly wonderful people!!!!
