General Info
Established in 1938, the school offers a rich, challenging and joyful educational experience for early childhood and elementary school children. In addition to core academics taught in small groups by classroom teachers, LRS students attend classes with specialists in Spanish, science, art, music, library and physical education. The Beginners program offers a warm introduction to school for our youngest students. In small classes of 8 with two teachers, children learn to separate from their primary caregivers as they begin to make new friends and develop new concepts. In Nursery, the developmental range of young children is accomodated in small multi-age classes of 3s and 4s. A theme-based curriculum organizes the nursery program, encouraging students to make connections across disciplines and develop their thoughtfulness, creativity and skills as they prepare for kindergarten. The elementary school program is based on the premise that learning can be challenging and rigorous, while still being joyful, engaging and personally meaningful. Children graduate fifth grade well-prepared for the challenges of middle school with confidence, a strong sense of self and a passion for learning.

This school has become more than just a school for our family. The children are happy to go to school and run to their classes every day with a smile on their faces. They have an opportunity to learn even when they are out of a classroom setting. The teachers at Long Ridge live to interact with our kids and share knowledge. Long Ridge has been a wonderful place for my children but also for my husband and I. We have made life long friends and have always felt invited to be part of the school and the greater school community. This is a must see school, you will not regret it!

LRS has exceptionally qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers; they are experts in the field of early-childhood and elementary education. Teachers use hands-on learning as a way to discover topics in depth and excite children about learning.

LRS is a small school, which results in both individualized instruction and a strong sense of community. This is an amazing place & I am so excited that I found it for my three children!
