Monterey Transmission

My husband and I have been using them for about 4 years now and not once have had a problem. My husband has 5 company vehicles and takes all his vehicles to them, as with our personal vehicles. Great place!!

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous review.

In December 2012 I paid $1200 for a rebuild of a transmission case that I supplied for a custom vehicle. At the time I was referred to them by a reputable mechanic. I recently found out he no longer uses Monterey due to the reputation they are getting. Long story short... I do not drive my custom car every day and it lives in my garage most of the time. Well, 450 miles later the transmission fails. I contact Monterey and make an appointment date to have them look at it under warranty and have it towed to them.

They left the car outside in the parking lot for seven days all the while avoiding my calls and giving me the run around. Finally, on the third visit to them within the seven day period, the owner (john), tells me the transmission is out of warranty due to time and that he will call me the following week to give me a price after he removes the tranny, YES, 7 days and they hadn't even removed the transmission to diagnose the issue!. They also were informed that the car was scheduled to be in a car show 8 days after they received it. Of course it never made the appearance.

There is a lot more to this... needless to say I had the car towed to another much more reputable tranny shop. Bottom line..... AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!! NO STARS!!!

They rebuilt my transmission 3 years ago. It is not right and I expected to pay a strongly reduced price for a second rebuild 3 years later. 1900 for the first rebuild and 1700 for the second 3 years later? Not good enough. When I suggested that was not acceptable they said they would rework the price and only fix the least of the problems and patch it up. No confidence in that response. Rip off a girl. Never again. My tire guy who I LOVE recommended him but will no longer. I know that bad things can happen but I expected a better response. I should have gotten 100-140k and maybe got 30? :( unexpected for a small town business to not stand behind their work.
