Mama's Greek Cuisine

last week I brought my family down from New York to Tarpon springs.we were handed a menu to mamas and tried it out .the food was to die for and the atmosphere made me and my family feel like we were in Greece .the staff felt like family

We were entertaining out of town guests and decided to take them to Mama's Greek Cuisine for lunch. Our meals were good and the price was reasonable but the staff was incredibly rude and unpleasant. Our silverware was dirty and when we asked for another set our waitress rolled her eyes and said "fine". She never returned with new utensils. When we ordered our food we asked if the check could be split three ways and was told "no, it's too hard". Our waitress said that we could split the check at the counter when we paid. So, we brought our check to the counter and my sister in law started to tell the cashier how to split the check. The cashier grabs the check out of her hands and snaps at her "just tell me what you had". By the time we left the restaurant we were all so angry that only one person in our party of eight left a tip. And. the only reason they left a tip was out of guilt. Then, the waitress follows us out of the restaurant and screams, "what no tip?". My mother in law followed her into the restaurant and told her we didn't tip because she was so rude. There are plenty of great restaurants in Tarpon Springs and I would not waste my time at Mama's Greek Cuisine.

The gyro signature sandwich has a more than generous portion of meat, which has fresh onion and tomato, accented by a cucumber sauce that holds on to the pita and gyro meat without running down your arm. Also had the Greek chicken salad. It's a meal in itself. We vacation in the Tampa area each year, and make the trip to the sponge docks every year. Mama's is worth the trip by itself.
