Discount Tire

Terrible service, rude and discourteous, several minutes elapsed before I was greeted and offered assistance

We recently called for quotes for 2 tires for our utility trailer. After quite a bit if research via internet and telephone, we went with the lowest quote from Discount Tire Co. in Texas City, TX.

We went to the shop and bought the tires, paid the bill and came home to install them ourselves. After we finished, I reviewed the receipt. I was stunned to see we had been charged $30.00 for installation. Immediately I called the shop and asked the man who answered why we were charged for installation when we did it at our home. He told me there is no reason that the charge should have been there. I told him I would come by the next day to resolve this issue of being overcharged.

When I arrived at the shop and asked to be refunded, a salesman there told me that the billing was correct. I asked how could this be when we did the installation at our home? He told me that the installation charge is to place the rubber on the rim and balance it on the wheel. I told him that we were not quoted $30.00 for this. He told me that is the policy. How can a tire store sell tires NOT mounted on the rims to regualr people who they know cannot mount and balance tires themselves? And furthermore why did no one make us aware that the price quoted by phone will be +$30.00 in advance of our arrival?

Discount Tire Co. states it has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but I am not satisfied and was told there was no recourse.

We run a small business and always try to make choices that will save us a little money here and there. Be warned that any quote by phone must be verified in person prior to allowing serive to begin to avoid the surprise of this hidden fee. I feel like if it is your business to put tires on rims, then a $30.00 hidden charge is excessive and should have been included in the quote by phone.

Don't be taken in like I was.
