Although Shawyn was great in helping plan for my father's final rest, the funeral experience was a nightmare. Shawyn was the ONLY good thing about the people working there. We booked my father's funeral 5 days in advance. We were told to be there at 1045 for an 11am start. We got there at 1040 only to find another family had been told the same thing. When I questioned Dave the grounds manager he told me "this isn't a restaurant, you can't reserve it. You're out and they're in" and my family was left standing in the ice and snow with no idea what to do. When I walked into the office to get things straightened out (in heels, on the ice and in tears because this was my father's funeral that they were ruining) I was greeted by a very insensitive and unprofessional woman in the office who said "well, this stuff happens, we have several funerals going on every day." Shawyn began work to straighten things out (again, the ONLY sensitive and professional person in the entire place) and sat me in a room with John. John repeated what the nasty secretary said and told me "we can't control when funerals show up. Yes you had your service scheduled but it's first come first serve so it doesn't really matter." Unbelievable and completely unacceptable. Keep in mind that the entire time I was trying to figure things out my family was in the freezing February temperatures and extremely upset. After half an hour my family was moved, back in our cars and across the park, to another chapel where there was ice all over the sidewalk and no salt was put down and my father's urn was placed on a plastic folding table that wasn't even covered with a table cloth or anything to hide the cheap plastic. I can not express the disgust, disappointment and pain created by the staff of OCMP during the worst day of my life, the day I laid my father to rest. They should be ashamed of themselves. Please be warned. Go elsewhere. Don't subject yourself to their insensitive disrespect during your time of grief. A special shout out to Dave, John and the miserable secretary with the dark hair. May the pain you caused come back to you ten fold in your time of suffering. Thank you Shawyn...you truly deserve a better place to be associated with.

I agree. It is very annoying when you are sitting at the crypt trying to pray and you are getting attacked by gnats. I have complained that OCMP should have an exterminator come in, but so far nothing has changed

I go every Sunday to the Mausoleum to visit a loved one. You cannot sit to pay respect because fruit flies attack you from all directions...in your eyes, nose and mouth. They even sneak into your hair. I need to shake my hair out when I leave and brush my clothes off before I get into the car. They say they exterminate but the fruit flies are there every week. They crawl on the slabs and then on you. Disgusting! My question is what are these fruit flies feeding on to stay alive? The Board of Health says it's private property so they won't get involved. If I had to do this over, I would put my loved one outside and appreciate the fresh air.
